Bobby, can you open an Adobe document? I can send you a litter evaluation test I found on the Shiloh Shepherd website, which I used to evaluate my puppy before I brought her home. It was quite accurate, too!
I'll try e-mailing it to you as an attachment, okay?

I am very interested in what it is you have to say about selecting the "pick of the litter" puppy from amongst a new litter...Anything you have to say will be of interest to me as well as helpful in my selection of my new pup once he is born...I'm sure my "breeder" will have her choice but I would like to go in with some knowledge so I can vocalize my thoughts as well...
Please either post the information here or send me an e-mail at mrarebe@netscape.net this sounds like something we all should have or know if we are serious about our puppies...
Another world class breeding from our "breeder" with Falco Moorebeck as the sire to one of her V rated females (with an outstanding pedigree) and I am asking for "pick" of the litter and if not pick, pretty darn close as I am not a breeder I am however a lover of the breed...
I can be more detailed/specific if anyones interested via an e-mail...
Thanks,
Rob

If possible wait until the last minute to pick a pup. After 8 weeks of age, the older the better and still be able to sell your other pups.
You need to spend alot of time with the pups observing them. Do the tests on how they respond to loud noises, unusal movements, meeting strangers, react to be in a new place by themselves etc. Takes time to pick the one you want, i have mywife do the same all day while i am away at work, she actually recommended the bitch i have now and turned out to be the best gsd i have ever had. more time you spend with them the better.
for a working dog i pick:
1. must have strong nerves 2. prey and food drive 3. conformation/athletic/medium sized
of course the pup must be healthy, good teeth etc...
