peg~ I purchased a dog through a broker form their kennels over a year ago. Xabina vom Holtkamper See. You can see her pics on her ped here. She is also still on Addingastes website, they kept some of her progeny. You will see a before and after pics in her dog gallery. She was greatly missrepresented and in horrible condition when she arrived. Now after months of love and conditioning she is doing better. Do to my experience I would not recomend anyone buying from them, especially if you are importing without seeing the dog first hand before the purchase. Granted my dog is high quality, KKL1 for life and was a proven brood bitch, she came with so much neglect, mistrust and such, it was very hard to deal with her, after her pups whelped. She could have easily bit us if we didn't know how to deal with her.
Over a year later she is now acting like a dog and a full memeber of our family.

4pack is being diplomatic.
I was there when Xabina got off the plane. It was one of the WORST cases of abuse and neglect I had ever seen. The dog was complete skin and bones. She had zero muscle mass and could not raise her head above her shoulders.
Xabina had obviously been locked down in a crate or small kennel for a very long time. There is no way she could have been in a run that allowed her to move about. She had very limited range of motion in her limbs. I had to do extensive physical therapy on her. Twice a day I layed her down and massaged her whole body. I rotated and stretched all of her legs. It was terrible.
She was obviously beaten. If I raised my voice, she freaked out. She cringed and cowered anytime I raised my hand over her head. To this day she still squints her eyes if I raise my hand over her head to pet her. She is a Sch 3 dog but if I put on a sleeve, she totally avoids me. She will do a bark and hold for a ball, and will bite a bite pillow. Put on a sleeve and she goes the other way in total avoidance.
We complained to the SV and their response was there was no evidence of wrongdoing at the kennel and her condition must have happened with the broker or during her time in the US. She was in the US a total of 3 weeks before we got her.
I wanted to get on a plane and seriously kick someone's ass. I would never, ever, ever do business with this kennel.

Oh I am sure it is but she isn't strong enough to recover. Also would it be fair to breed a dog who is old and tired beyond her years? I guess I could have turned around a sold her after we got our litter but didn't think that would be the humane or right thing to do. She would have been a seriously hard dog to place and I don't want my name tarnished by selling a dog like her to someone else. 1 more litter may have been OK for her but her luck, I would sell her to someone who would breed her until her uterus fell out. She is quite happy here hanging with the other 2 pet dogs, picking on my daughters spayed bitch. She has come a long way in her confidence but she still shuts down for work or any formal comand. Anybody wanna Sch 3 nearing 8yrs old who wont do any of the 3 phases?
Didn't think so...
