A friend of mine is looking at this litter for a possible SchH prospect, and I was wondering if judging by the lines if she could hope for a good drive puppy? Yes, yes, I know, EVERY LITTER IS UNIQUE. I know this, but my way of thinking is Pedigree is 50% of the dog's drives and Enviornment is the remaining 50% of who the dog is. She is a newbie, but knows how to work her dogs, so I know she'll do good on the Enviornment part, but just wanting some opinions on this breeding.

If you want to answer personally, please feel free to email my friend at: blueskyek9@charter.net

Thank you!

Is this the litter that Naya's Mom is looking at for her Czech puppy prospect?

Well, before the rest of the peanut gallery chimes in let me ask the standard question... why does the sire of the litter show no titles?  Is this a breeding out of an untitled male, or were his working titles accidentally left out of the PDB entry?

I figured that question would pop up sooner rather than later, so let's just get it out in the open and hash through that issue.

Disclaimer:  NOT saying the male is a "bad dog", NOT saying you can't get a good puppy out of the litter, so please don't flame me, you know what a delicate blossom I am.  LOL.

Just in case the sire's working titles were left out by accident, I thought I should ask the question so you or your friend could contact the breeder and clarify the point.  It could happen, an inadvertent omission.  If that were my dog, and I dorked up the data entry and left out a title or two I sure would appreciate if someone let me know.

Hi Yvette,

Yes, this is the litter I am looking at. The male does in fact have a ZVV2-3 I think. His full name wasn't even entered into the PDB, so I had to enter it, so I don't currently know exactly what his titles are, but I know that he has at least a ZVV1, which as you probably know, a ZVV is much more intence to earn than a SchH. What I mean is more rigourus training and such. It tests the dog's limits more. I'll contact the breeder tonight, and ask exactly what his titles are, or I can look on the ad where I found them, and read what that says too. You never emailed me your phone number...sorry I lost it :)

There is a huge difference between a ZVV2 and a 3!

For the record, if I may be technical, the pedigree is not 50% -- the actual genes may be 50%, but the pedigree shows 200% of the genese, so the pedigree is only 1/4 of the impact in your equation... ;-)

This is a very, very interesting breeding!  Bero was under-rated.  But the sire is so young!  Very unlikely that he has more than a 1 -- he is only, what, 18 months?  Can't even be OFA'ed...and hardly mature enough to even know what his full panoply of drives will be. ;-(

But the puppies could be great.  Just a little more risk than going with an older sire...

Oops.  I see he is 26 months.  Work/sport dogs, surely -- if they fit with your friend.

Krista,

Thanks for the clarification!  Do you know the male's owner?  How can you validate what titles he has?

I see a very nice working pedigree there. Just looking at the pedigree it self and not at all the gossip behind it. I highly doubt this male has a ZVV 3 at this age. There are only 5 dogs who are able obtain a ZVV 3 per year in the Czech Republic. Maybe there is some miscommunication going on between Naya's mom and the breeder.

Only 5 dogs a year get ZVV3?  Really?  First I've heard of that.  Do they only give out that title at their national event?

Sorry, I should have said 3 to 5 dogs per year.

Czech and Slovak (ZVV/SVV) title system is a utility dog system. More realistic and demanding on all levels as compared to the thousands of dog's that acquire a SchH3. Only 3 to 5 dog's yearly attain the ZVV3 title. This title includes long, detailed tracking phases, full obedience and extensive protection on and off leash.
