I would like to know your opinions on whether or not Easty Westy feet will correct themselves as the dog matures?  Some say yes, and some say no!

If you're asking about your boy Chaos, he looks very heavy for a year-old dog and that can't be helping.  Unless it's just the picture angle and I'm not seeing what he really looks like.  What does he weigh?

Also, I found his mother's pedigree and put that on his listing.

In my own experience, a slight  east-west front on a young dog has a chance to improve if that dog has a narrow chest with a shallow brisket. By narrow chest I'm not talking about a dog that looks like both front legs erupt from the same hole; I'm talking about a young, immature dog that should get more breadth to its chest as it matures. If the dog is "tied in" at the elbows, meaning his elbows are so tight to his body that the results is an east-west front ,that dog will probably not improve much either.  Long, weak pasterns are also a very common fault in the GSD and some are east-west because of that.

You need to take a good look at your dog and try to figure out why he's east-west. Is it in the pasterns or the elbows. Most people who show dogs should be able to help you with that decision, so next time you take him to a UKC show, ask some that have been showing for a while. They don't necessarily need to be GSD people. If you are referring to Chaos, looking at the photo you posted here seems to indicate that his problem is in his pasterns. His elbows do not look tight against his body to me, in fact they appear to be a bit loose, but it may be the way he's standing there.

No matter what he is still a very nice looking dog, so enjoy him. You might want to think about tracking, agility, rally, obedience, etc also. All fun ways to enjoy your dog.

Hi again.  Chaos is ALL hair, lol.  He is only 70.5 lbs.  The vet said he is right on track.  When he is wet, he looks skinny.  Being a long coat, his coat is very thick.  I do do some agility with him and he does do obedience also.  He doesn't seem to like being in the obedience ring though, as much as the show ring.  He seems to be thinking of so many other things in the obedience ring, than what I am asking him to do!  I reallyyy enjoy the show ring, much more than the obedience ring, so I'm pretty much sticking with that for right now.  He is such a fun dog and is loveable to all, except some other dogs!  How the heck do I get him out of that stage?

Opps, looked at what was added to his pedigree.  His mom is not Brenda.  His mom is Faydra, daughter go Brenda.  I have looked online for her and I can't find anything on her.  Her registered name is Faydra Von Steppenwolf.

My bad for screwing up the pedigree - I read your first post here saying that the dam was Brenda, and thought maybe you'd tried to enter her during one of the "down" periods on the site when registration edits don't seem to take.  Sorry about that.

But I did find a listing for a Steppenwolf Kennels on the web, and they do use the "von" prefix to name their dogs:

Maybe you could contact them to find out if they bred Faydra.  Also, your pup's sire is at stud with this breeder, whose web site just happens to be linked on the Steppenwolf links page...I'm thinking your pedigree mystery may be close to being solved with a simple phone call.

Hi again.  I talk to the breeder all the time.  She lives like 15 to 20 minutes from us.  They have Chaos's mom there on site.  Her name is Faydra Von Steppenwolf.  I have their website in my favorites also.  She said that they get very few easty westy feet out of their litters, and that it sucks when they do.  She said that as his chest expands, he might grow out of it.  A judge told me different and said that he probably won't!  They said I need to place his feet how I want them when stacking him for the judge, so you can't really tell that he has easty westy feet.  Will see what happens from here on out.

Then it sounds like all you'd need to straighten out the pedigree I messed up here would be to get the maternal grandsire's info.  With his info, Faydra could be registered and then properly attributed as Chaos' dam.
