What's become of the breed is that it's in the hands of sissies. Rather than buck up and learn how to handle a real dog firmly but fairly, they'd rather use pathetic specimens for breeding and PTS the rare real dogs that crop up occasionally despite their best efforts. These are the people who encouraged me to breed; I can hardly find what I want anymore so it's time to produce it myself.
Feather........you cannot be serious. Ever moved something with your foot? Ever kicked someone under a table to get their attention non-verbally? Ridiculous basis for a thread.
I don't know how old Yoshy is exactly but what if he is 23? Why is it some people are so closed-minded that they can't understand they may have been doing it WRONG for 40 or 50 years???

Jenni78,
Nice post. This really is an excersize in futility. There is nothing anyone can say that is going to convince Feather to change his point of view. Experience is the only thing that will change his mind, specifically the kind of experience that is described by many obviously knowlegeable people on this thread.
And for anyone who thinks that age makes a difference in your knowledge base, or for that matter maturity level, should take a look at video of Samantha Jimenez (Age 7) with Hesy Naspo at the 2010 Working Dog Championship. Search youtube for Samantha Jimenez and you will find both her protection and obedience routines.

THere is always someone out there shopping for opinions. There is always people that will take what feather the retard said as actual fact, and God's honest truth.
THis is why you waste time and point out that there are retards out there. This person didn't want a discussion, just wanted to show how cruel Sch was.

Well, what gives threads like this credibility are incidents like this: www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/bulletins_read/407111.html
Unfortunately, there ARE people out there who don't know where to draw the line between a forceful correction on a hard dog, and out and out abuse.

Well, what gives threads like this credibility are incidents like this:
So, by your way of thinking, every gun owner is a mass murderer. Every person that has kitchen knife set is jack the ripper, every person that ever gets mad at someone is a killer. 1 guy out of how may pet owners ?? WHat would that percetage look like ?? LOL 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001%
That thread gives no credibility at all to anything.

Forums have to try to give them more than just a little bit of knowlege, which is a dangerous thing, duh. For example, my brother showed up the other day explaining to me in idiot internet language why he thought a working dog <read: GSD> would be too much for his family...to high maintenance. So he went out and bought a pair of border collies.
Gurglie noise ensuing.

Jeff......huh. Interesting dichotomy. *I* always get people telling me that they're shocked I'm not horrifyingly scary looking because I'm smart about dogs. It's all about perspective, Jeffy.

They have seen your picture, and want to touch your monkey. I guess you have yet to figure out that most guys will say anything to get into a girls pants. HA HA. or should I say south of the border ? With laser intensity ? : )
I think the pair of border collies is going to be a great experience for him. After all, EVERYONE knows all about dogs, just ask them.
