Hi Sam
Religion has nothing to do with this matter at all.  I mentioned Christ so you would know where I was  coming from, and the reason why I think and train the way I do.  A  man can be brought up a certain way,go to colledge, and still never believe.I believe half of christianity is this way,
Getting back on subject. The K9 OFFICER HAs to report to an Ottawa  k9 training centre one day a month, for evaluating and training.  The OPP dogs must be nuetered, the city dogs do not have to be.

We are really happy to hear that the oil leak has been plugged.
Praise the Lord.

Sorry Sam, I was too quickly reading through all the posts, and thought that reading was being referred to from a breeding perspective.

No worries, Daryl. I understood what you were saying.

gouda, I have a close friend who recently placed a 100% Am. s/l with a LE agency in my area.

The dog has good prey drive and is very willing to bite/attack, even children, which is why he was "disposed" of in the first place. So far, it looks like the dog will be successful  in L/E work. He is a freak of nature and absolutely useless in furthering the GSD as a breed.

So, please, don't presume to educate me on the GSD as a breed in the U.S.

Please re-read my OP. You bred your litter for what reason, to advance the breed, to supply a single LEO with a pup or to put a little extra cash in the savings account. What happened with the rest of the litter.

Good morning Rik

Im not trying to educate you on anything Rik. I personally dont  like the Am show line dogs,
nor do I  own Am.show lines.
You ask what happened to the other puppies of that litter. A female was on the police K9  UN until the officer was suspended from the force. You got to remember that all the dogs on the City police forces are owned 100% by the officers.Another male has a sch3. one female lives in North Pole Alaska.   Now about me lining my pockets,is another false assumpsion on your part..  I donated these two dogs after they picked the two pups they wanted, the officers had no Idea that I was going to do that. So please do not think I line my own pockets instead of  bettering the breed.
As of today I have at least 20 or so poeple interested in one of my pups.  I have a stud dog lined up that recently came from Serbia V1  KLL1, IPO 3.   I dont really advertize my pups, most are sold through word of mouth. And I also will not breed, untill I have more information on my knee replacement.  I have not had a litter since July 2009.

Have a wonderful week end Rik

rik,
I partially agree with what your cop friend is saying.  However the sport dosnt make the dog weak or flawed. Aflawed weak dog can compete though.  Believe me I have seem some real crappers.  But I can say the same for some police dogs I have seen.  Inadition as someone else mentioned.  These import police dogs I would bet have lots of sch titled gods in their ped.

Good morning Sam

Just a little humor to brighten your day,and make you laugh.

A little boy was  pulling a little wagon down the side walk.
The the little boy met a priest on his way to confessional.
The priest asked the little boy what he had in his wagon.
The little boy lifted the blanked  and showed the priest his litter of 5 day old G,S. puppies.
He also told the priest that the puppies were Catholic.
The priest wished the boy well, and was very happy the little boy said his pups were Catholic.
A couple of weeks went by,and again the priest ran into the little boy.
The priest asked the boy how his Catholic puppies were doing.
The boy replied,oh sir these are protesant puppies, the priest  replied and said I thaught you said a coupleoff weeks ago they were catholic puppies,   The boy said yes they were at that time, but now they have their eyes open.

just a bit of humor for the board.

God bless

"He sais that most ego maniac Sch.people use all kinds of tricks,e collars, choking, forced retrieves, ect. ect.. mainly to satisfy their own ego. He said after these methods you are not really seeing the dog that he really is. I believe these are the people that have ruined the Shepherd breed."

Glory! Hallehujah!  Someone is singing my song!

Geez, and I agree that most cops are idiiots about dogs and for crying out loud I'm not a Christian, but Brother Gouda has really thrown down this time!

One reason a title can mean NOTHING is that if you take a GSD with ZERO natural retrieve, and ZERO handler compliance and ZERO many other things that make a good GSD a useful service dog and you FORCE that dog to retrieve, and you FORCE that dog into a 99 obedience routine, well, then what the hell good is that dog for a breeding program?  ZIP.

In ANY breed, if the dog does not exhibit the desired traits for which the dog is bred (natural retrieve/prey drive, so called "pack drive", compliance) than it is NOT A GOOD REPRESENTATIVE OF THE BREED no matter what title it was artifically forced into.

Just saying!
