Gustav, you are correct. I am very new to sch. Lots of years in AKC show.

I have been to several conformation shows in the past year, including 2 Sieger shows.

The only mals I had seen , until I joined a club recently were in the AKC show ring.

Saw a 15 mo. male today at club that was very impressive. Folks were calling him a "maligator", and the guy had him under very good control.

Thanks for the info.

Gustav, will you be at Purina Farms next fall? I'd love to buy you a beer for just being damn spot on all the time.

Gustav:  Is a 294 a good enough score  for you, and my dog was on the world working team twice, and he Wes a show  dog and a VA dog many times.  Your really need to read Peter Messler's  Critique of him...And obviously you have never heard of  Bosse' Nyman, The greatest breeder in the world, who knew every koring book.  I know because when I got Gucci from Sweden, I had the honor of bringing Gucci to America...The motto of Triumps kennel was work and show and so it is mine, I raise working and show lines..and I love both lines..but I try really hard to keep the work ethic,  in my show lines from Gucci So say what you will but I can give you names of German Judges ,  working line Judges, who have told me , there has been no show dog like Gucci.  So there you have it and if you if you have the guts, research him.  Triumph's Kazan,

Gucci was a great dog whose record spoke for itself. I hope to meet his son in the US Kaluv, whom I have heard so much about but have yet to see him work myself.

Which of Gucci's offspring are following in his footsteps?
I'd like to watch as they make their way up ranks...........

There have been several,  but in all countries...you can look up Triumphs Kazan and the rest of the progeny on this database by looking up Gucci....A lot of them here are doing akc stuff,  Antha (his daughter was 2008 akc herding Champion,  Nuri is an up and coming herding Grandson, and of Course,  Gordy, in Wa. is doing really well.   Have kept  his lines pretty exclusive in America,  Never accepted a female for breeding from the "larger" kennels as I did not want his lines exploited in America....I have some really nice Grand-children from him, but right now they are just being puppies before they begin their Sch. training...Kaluv is doing well..

Visitor, How in the Hell can you have missed the posts above where I said I was aware of Gucci's accomplishment. Never knocked the dog for his work ability. But exceptions to the rule donot the rule make. I have said that I will not comment on showlines on this forum anymore this year until the next year Seiger show. If you feel the West Showline is generally representative of good working dogs.....Bravo and I am silent on it....Peace!!

I,ve seen nothing in a seiger show that would reinforce real working abaility in the dogs. If you want to impress me put impartial helpers out there who work national working events to do there working venue lets see these dogs on the likes of Lotus,Clark,James just to name a few off the top of my head lets see real pressure on the dogs not helpers playing little games to get the dogs on the sleeves and keep them there lets see proper obedience OFF LEASH getting there lets see judges being truey FAIR AND IMPARTIAL   and not consider  what kennel, owner,or money thet the kennel contributed to the orginization... Then lets see some scores... I,ve stated before how I feel how the breed could be improved by simple changes.. .

Actually Bob, Gucci went to more trials than foo foo shows,  but, it was fun to watch his beautiful movement in the ring,  however his obedience was equally as nice...
Sorry Gustav,  guess I missed that, and no, I do not like the bite-work on most of the dogs at the Sieger Shows, hanging on by one tooth, and being able to "try again" is not bite-work,

Bob,  Mr. Nyman taught me so much about keeping the work ethic in the show lines before he passed, we spent many hours on the telephone,  I wish I would have recorded it all,  do remember the lines he told me to stay away from and I have.  Actually Bosse'  started with a gray dog..

Thanks All.  Have a great Day..

I may have missed it in this topic but nobody seems to talk about courage here.  Do not forger that high prey drive does not mean much if the dog has no courage to back it up. There are too many dogs with super prey drive covering with its shortfalls in defense line of emotions and actions: Threat--> suspicion (or fear)-->courage--> aggression.
For the sake of the GSD.
