That's odd, here water is one of the only places dogs aren't requires to be on leash. Unless specifically designated a human only beach, unleased dogs are a-ok as long as they're in the water :)

Go ask a golf course if you can do a search. They're usually very happy to have an animal disturb duckls and geese :)

We had a beach that was closed off part of the time and you could take your dog there and swim or play. Of course dogs getting into fights dogs shitting and pissing on the sand that humans had to use too, the people got tired and last i heard, dogs were no longer allowed there.

I saw a golf course today that looked like it went out of business....that may have potential.

The urban trainers here use school facilities with written permission from the school with set times and dates for training they apply through club letter head.

i believe many north american schools have limited outdoor areas tho?

Schools here are always on big fields in the middle of suburbia and a perfect dog training areas.

Vk4, i have about 6 schools around me and they all have these big huge grassy areas that would make great training places, except for the signs posted all over the fences, NO DOGS ALLOWED, NO TRESPASSING, plus, many of them have an SRO, that's a school resource officer/AKA police officer living on the property for free for just those reasons.

Donate cash to the school.

I use schools a lot too.  If I was out just running them around i'm sure i'd be in trouble by now, but people can obviously tell i'm working on something and are more intrigued usually than wanting to turn me in :)

An SRO living at the school? I'm a teacher. I have  never heard of such a thing. I also use school grounds a lot in the evenings/weekends/summers. Nobody cares. (i use others than the one I teach at) If you try to use school grounds while school is in session, you will get run off. And deserve to.

Not to derail this topic to far.......but, in NM we have SRO's at most of our elementary and junior high schools. I've never had a problem training on school grounds. The key is being smart (don't go when there is an activity going on or children are at school) and courteous to others. Also, our club trains on the soccer fields of a charter school. We have an agreement with the school to be there. Most of us track on soccer fields and school fields on the weekends and after school if no one is around.

the assumption was when no students and staff are present, and preferably tracking and obed and fetch etc. not off-leash civil style attacks on a hidden decoy somewhere on the school grounds during school hours, sheesh you really have to be explicit here sometimes.

Mike, because you have not heard of it does not mean it doesn't exist. Some schools have beautiful home trailers on the premises where the SRO lives, but, i have no interest in trespassing on posted school grounds either way.
