sounds like the same situation I endured for many years. I used to keep a 22 hostered and if a dog came after me, my children or my live stock I shot them and burried them, when the owner came aound asking i didn't see anything.......or would say i saw a stray running that a way.....

eventually people learned to keep their dangerious dog in their yard.

sherrif and animal control have better things to do.

YOu'd be surprised the freaky logic people use to justify their dogs running loose.  Things like, "Well, wolves aren't kept tethered or kenneled, and dogs shouldn't be either..."  How about this one, "Well, you wouldn't have to trim your dog's nails if you let her run loose so she could wear them off.  It's stupid to cut them when you could let the dog wear them off..."

I could go on and on, but you get the picture.  These people believe their dogs are just doing what dogs do naturally, so there shouldn't be any big deal...Hey, if you don't like my dog killing your livestock, put up higher, stronger fences, or get rid of the livestock...

I get looked at like I'm nuts for thinking that, because we choose to take a dog as a pet, we have taken responsibility for the dog's upbringing and safety, and letting your dog run loose is a good way for them to get into trouble or get dead.

I always tell people that leaving your dog running loose with no supervision is like putting a three year old child outside and going to town, leaving him or her not contained in fence or anything.  You know the child will get hurt...And so it goes with dogs.  It's your responsibility to know where your kids are, and your dogs, at all times, and keep them safe and out of trouble.  If your dog is aggressive, then that responsibility is even greater, because you now have the liability issue of a creature capable of killing a child, or livestock.  Makes you want to beat the owners senseless...
