I'm in Ontario, was looking for the same things as you.
My thinking is along the lines of realcold.
We went down to Ann Arbor Michigan, to a small hobby kennel, actively involved in schutzhund.
All of the breeding females are (HOT) 100% European working bloodlines.
Current breeding females are of their own breeding & possess working titles and hip certifications.
Also still actively training for higher working degrees on the said young females.
Maybe a drive south of the Border is not out of the question?

Just want to say that shutzhund title should not be a requirement to breed a dog and if you need a shutzhund title to tell you a dog is good or bad then you know nothing about working dogs.the biggest problem with the breed today is that all dogs are being bread for sport,by the way which has nothing to do with real life work.german shepherd is not for the sport of shutzhund only you think the father of the breed was looking for a dog that could do shutzhund and if your answer is yes then you are the biggest moron on this planet and you know nothing about the bree other then what you have learned from this board and you could not pick a good working dog even if it bit you in the ass. shutzhund is a good sport for something to do with your dog and stroke your big eggo.period.dog for breeding should be put through real test, shutzhund is not it. i can go on and on and on but intelligent minds do not need a lot to understand what it is. have a nice one.

Dan Juros has my vote for a quality Canadian working dog breeder. I have two outstanding males from his breeding program. Both of them look very promising for high sport.

I completely agree with the comments above about Lisa Frederick (http://www.immerstarkshepherds.ca/ ) and Carmen Duggan (http://www.carmspack.com/).  Both are Fair, honest, forthcoming and knowledgeable.

I suggest you do some more research if you are looking at Appleridge.  I'll leave it at that.....

I second Dan Juros. Trustworthy and has good ethics. Always has the dog's well-being as his priority, which you can hardly say about a lot of breeders nowadays.

I would also recommend Dan Juros.  A friend of mine got a gorgeous male puppy from him last year, and boy I have never seen such a beautiful dog,  so easy to work with and very stable.  I would take one of his dogs in a heart beat.

hi, we just got a really nice puppy from Dan Juros, he has titled all his females, he belongs to working clubs, and he is a helper/trainer. Dan has a super litter right now from Sid Pixner BSP! He has really done his homework on bloodlines and the character of breeding stock.

Dan is very honest and very knowledgeable. He also knows several small owner/breeders that compete up there in the Vancouver area.
