I specifically wasnt naming names, GSDguy; but I don't think I had you in mind when I commented.  Handsome wolf hybrid btw.

mfh27, I didn't know.  And thanks.  I think he may have a little bit of tea cup poodle in his ancestry though, maybe his mom was a tea cup poodle, and dad was a 160 lb timber wolf?

It's easy to see the teacup!

I love the topic. I've been laughing with my hubby for years now about all the comments we get from people about our GSDs. We've got standard black and tan and the 'standard' question is: "What kind of mix is it?" We stopped trying to educate those people years ago. Now, we usually answer seriously: "We're not sure but we think it's Poodle with some Shitzu..." You would be surprised how many people believe it... Those who don't believe walk away offended - well stupid question - stupid answer... I never ASSUME somebody's dog is a mix. Even if it looks like one - you can always ask what kind of breed it is. If it's a mix - owner will tell you, and if it's not - then you won't offend the owner...

I also had once - years ago a lady that was INSISTING that my dog is not purebred GSD (even when I told her that she is papered with Ch. pedigree). "Well, she doesn't look like GSD to me, she has to be a MIX. Your AKC papers lie..." - she knew better.

My in-laws tea cup poodle sits like a person when in chairs.  Does your teacup wolf mix do that, GSDguy?  If not, yours probably doesnt have tea cup poodle in it.

mfh27, nah, he just plops down on the couch and slings his toys around while he's laying on his back lol.

OhMiGawd ROFLMAO @ other posters experiences!

I get kids all the time asking about my "police dogs"
My first GSD was a Czech import, DDR/Czech lines.  She was stocky, built like a tank, black/red blanket back.   I once had someone stop me who really thought she was a Malinois (she looked NOTHING like a Mal, not even lean built!)
I took my W. Ger showline sable girl (Timo Berrekasten line) to college campus once to play with her in this large field between the buildings, some guy walked up and thought she was a coydog and so cool for being a hybrid.

I have a VERY thick coated longhair GSD black/mahogany red color, very deep red!  I've gotten comments that people think she is a chowchow or chow mix

Back when I worked at a show Labrador kennel I used to take dogs out for car rides, walks at the park or stores.  Because these were thick built stocky English show type dogs I had soooo many people stop and ask if they were rottweiler mixes, especially the solid blacks or fox red dogs!
