Our agency has had both. We are using GSD's now. In general (not always) GSDs are calmer and easier to handle. My experience with Mals is that they are a very high drive dog and need an experienced handler to do well. What Mals lack in size and power, they make up for in speed/intensity.

Hi Manjeet
Just as you, I have owned some great Mals. In my opinion Mals can do everything as well as GSD. In most cases Mals win out on agility... As your vids show..
My only observation is, that Mals need a different skill set from their handler.
The ones I worked were little more sensitive/needy then GSD's.
But that's just my observation. I have always had top notch Czech Shepherds. (I am from former Czechoslovakia) So my bias lies towards the sheps.
Anyhow, just wanted to say I watched all your videos.
Great dogs, great work, great training. Nice job vith the video.

Both are true .... the mals have made a considerable in the usage of working K9's as well as sport K9's.. but also true , in some areas people are swiching back to GSDs.. .. depends what area you are in and what tasks the canine is being used for .. i won't get into the why's and wherefores here.. but the to answer the orinal posters question .. yes to both ..

Thanks guys.
Glad to know your views on this topic.
I have something to share on this topic.
A German shepherd has bite power of 238 pounds and A belgian Malinois has bite power of 125 pounds( I have watched it on National Geographic Channel and 100% sure about it) as A german shepherd has a bigger head and bite force has direct relationship with head size. But Belgian malinois is more intense and agile. So being more intense and agile are belgian malinois's make up for having lesser bite power.

Manjeet, don't believe everything you see on tv.
Power is dependent on size, true. However, any decoy worth it's salt will tell you that a breed has no correlation. It is the individual dog willingness to bite hard and the training that reinforces that behavior.
I have had mals, Gsd, dutchies, and bulldogs. I loved each dog and what they brought and it depends on what you want to do with that dog.
Really, it is the quality of training that dog will be learning under that will determine power, control, functionality, balancing of drives....Etc. What breed it is ......that is of least concern, IMO.
By the way, the most brutal biter
, in training and in competition with a suit (psa), for me, was an American bulldog. Mort was his name. LOL. Slipping the bite did little with him. Head like a trash can.
Having owed all these breeds, personally, I like the shepherds. Definitely harder to bring out than a mal, but there is a toughness and resiliency I did not see in any of the breeds. Please understand. I mean resiliency in training, mental toughness, and ability to respond to corrections positively while in drive. Conflict creating power.
