Mackenzie,

You are right, I do not need protection here, not from you or anyone else that I DO NOT KNOW, for as my Yorkshire Parents always told me, only WORDS from those you love and care about can hurt you,  as for the rest they are ONLY WORDS!! That is the wisdom that gave me my grounding for this world and wow at times like these you can only imagine how important that grounding turned out to be. It allows me to put people who arise to taunt me,  behind me when necessary for the greater good.

I DO THANK DAVID for trying to persuade you away from NEGATIVE COMMENTS. As he so aptly said, " We are at the very initial stages of developing a most exciting and valuable scheme for our breed, please allow it to grow and develop with input from as many as possible."  And it is for the very reason that this early initiative is FAR TOO IMPORTANT for the GSD Breed for me to allow you to draw me into a negative debate, so start another thread Mackenzie and when you do PLEASE start it off by first exlaining to ALL OF US WHAT YOUR IDEA OF FIT FOR PURPOSE IS, then just as I have done here by laying my idea's down for others to add to and comment on, we can (IF WE SO FEEL INCLINED) all do the same with YOUR THREAD.

This thread was started by David (Videx) on the matter of GSD IMPROVEMENT PLAN, thanks to him it has esculated into what could formulise an early intiative for informing the Public of a MANDATORY HEALTH IMPROVEMENT assessment process, take your obstacles of negativity into another thread.

Dogs that comply with the Health Checks as stipulated by our BC in order to Pass a BC Survey and also comply with the rest of the BC Survey assessment in order to obtain a Survey Pass as suitable for breeding or Fit for Purpose of Breeding.

Best Regards
Sue b

WELL SAID SUE, I think MACKENZIE is trying to take this tread to another question that has no bearing on your suggestion, as you say we are trying to move forward by having dogs that have had the health checks done and been breed surveyed to proof they are worthy to be bred from/to other suitable dogs to be in some way registered, NOT look at their working or show qualifications, althought these should added to the imformation gathered and to taken into account when looking to breeding.

Thanks for your reply Sue.  You have clarified "fit for purpose" as suitable for breeding.  That is fine and I do not see why you should feel so defensive.   Perhaps you should have made that clear in your first post as the statement "fit for purpose" covers a much wider spectrum.

As for trying to draw you into a negative debate that was something furthest from my mind despite the fact that you have been involved in the past with really negative subjects.

As for the subject of "fit for purpose" I am thinking about another thread on the wider issues of this subject.   This matter is of some concern within the SV and not a subject that will gain approval from all sectors, nevertheless it is something for discussion and agreement to avoid the gaps in our breed becoming wider.

I also applaud David for his contribution in informing the public that we are engaging a mandatory  health assessment  process.   However, we have to also provide them with information as to what the process comprises of and, now that you have clarified a specific area of "fit for purpose" Joe Public and Trading Standards will understand it's limitations.

Negativity can be considered by the number of times that questions are left unanswered.   It is up to the reader to decide whether negativity is present and not for you to pre- judge the readers opinion.

Mackenzie , As a reader of your posts I was not PREJUDGING anything, as a reader I considered them NEGATIVE. Go beat your drum somewhere else, this thread is about making FORWARD STEPS towards mandatory Health Tests for breeding purposes, not for the likes of you to attempt to turn into another Show V Working thread. WE ALL NEED TO BE WORKING TOGETHER ON THIS, go away and start your own thread, obviously YOU DONT KNOW WHAT FIT FOR PURPOSE ENTAILS YOURSELF, since you are still (as you said in your above post) THINKING ABOUT IT.

To everyone else who has contributed here, thanks for your valued support, an idea only becomes valid when it meets with the approval and support of others, otherwise its just another idea .

I will now try to formulate these suggestions into a Proposal to put before the Breed Council of Clubs as this 'suggestion' now needs the Breed Councils fullest involvement at the earliest opportunity. It will also need the involvement of the BC Database and Website Administrator to inform us and discuss the practicalities of developing this scheme.

I now URGE all of you to spread the word in the hope it will gather pace and further support and due to the negative aspects too regulary encountered here, it would be preferable if the word, pace and support be gathered outside of this Forum.

Once again on behalf of our breed, thank you to everyone who offered such POSITIVE support.

Best Regards
Sue

Have to say i also thought the comments were also negative, in fact when i read thr first one i said to myself " here we go more sl/ v w/l debates. At the start of this thread you were asked for  SUGGESTIONS of your own, not to pull apart the ones already made. Sue, i think you are right about support to be gathered outside this forum. I would also like to ask you SUE, do you ever say to yourself, "why the hell do i bother?" i know i would. Every time something positive is suggested, there's always someone or something to knock it back!!! Lets hope this takes off, PLEASE!! PLEASE!! for once lets all stand together and get moving!! Liz.

Hi Liz, Do I ever say to myself, why do I bother, YES FREQUENTLY, then I look into the eyes of one of my Shepherds and the reason why I bother is immediately renewed. SIMPLY,  BECAUSE I LOVE OUR BREED SO VERY, VERY  MUCH,
And at that very instance all the dispondant , irritating , insulting, disparaging and/or negative crap all just melts away into total insignificance.  OH, I DO LOVE LOOKING INTO THE EYES OF THOSE I ADORE, it may not heal all the worlds ills, but it certainly soothes the soul.

hi sue i have started another thread as i do not want to hi-jack this one   i am asking what everybody thinks fit for purpose means to them as it would seem there are different idea's on this subject and if we are going down the road of fit for purpose then we all need to be singing from the same hymn sheet and that every one knows exactly the wording of said proposal

miss beeb:
the breed is not safe in your hands, if you would seek advice from a convicted fraudster.
once he was caught surely that throws open the parentage of all his dogs-so his advice would be the last you should seek.

Was that a pledge of £20 from you Pencil... or just more drudgery?

We all know what he did was totally wrong... it doesn't render his knowledge null & void... too complicated for you?
