Hi,

I just registered to share my experience with Kraftwerkk9. I'm not sure I have an opinion one way or the other just want to let you folks know what my experience has been with GSDs, I am certainly not looking for an argument or looking to bash or be bashed. I fell in love with the breed for I’m sure pretty much the same reason everyone else has. When I was a little boy my older brother had a female GSD who was the sweetest, loyalist, smartest, most beautiful dog I had ever seen. I have spent the last 30 some odd years since my teens raising and training GSDs. I have never had a dog worthy of breeding for a number of reasons, bad hips. poor temperament, lack of registration, etc but I have loved and appreciated them all because in spite of any of their shortcomings they were all GSDs in underlying spirit. To this day the finest dog I ever had was a rescue that I paid $150 for. I met a women on the side of the road who was a self professed breeder of GSDs, the dog was 5 months old, way under weight and had obviously been beaten and neglected. My daughters were 3 and 4 years old at the time and although I wasn’t sure I should take a dog home in this condition I just had too. That dog lived to be 13 years old and although a little skidish at time grew to be an incredible dog. I’ve always had at least two GSDs and sometimes as many as 3 at a time that I would acquire through different means, adoption, purchasing from self professed reputable breeders and the like. In the last two years I had to put down a female who I got from a breeder that as my vet put it had the worst hips she had ever seen, I was able to keep the girl relatively comfortable until she was 8 years old but then the pain was too much for her and I needed to let her go. I also bought a male from a breeder who I have seen post numerous times on this board. This dog a male from supposed working lines with what was told to me, had many champions and titles in his pedigree turned out to be the most ill-tempered dog I have ever owned. He was extremely beautiful to look at but had a very fragile nerve base, he learned very quickly but could not sustain any pressure when being trained. He would actually run away when the pressure was too much. I never used any method beyond treat and leash corrections for any of my dogs and never had any dog just plain quit and run away on me. This dog ended up getting out of my house when I was out one day and viciously attacked my neighbor. I’ve never had a vicious dog before and have not had one since so that is about 1 out of 15 dogs. After experience with the last 2 dogs both heartbreaking I decided I would need to gain a greater understanding of the bred and began to study pedigrees and bloodlines so I wouldn’t have to go through the emotional pain of a poorly bred GSD again, either in structure or temperament. This led me to the Krafwerkk9 dogs of which I have two. Both dogs are from world-class breeding stock imported from Germany. Both dogs have multiple BSP competitors within one generation in their lines as well as A-Stamps on hips and elbows. Both animals although very expensive have been evaluated and are in Schutzhund training with a reputable trainer who has himself been on two world teams and titled and competed here and in Germany with success. This trainer told me I am fortunate to have acquired two dogs with the drive, temperament and physical conformation as the two I have. He told me puppies are at best a crapshoot so I should thank my lucky stars. After two years of pedigree research I picked what I thought were the best available dogs at the time although I know I paid too much for them. Both dogs were from two different litters with two different sets of parents, both arrived healthy and very happy. I guess my dilemma centers around who gave me the best GSDs, the dogs who were bred by hobby or backyard breeders or Kraftwerkk9. I have spent an enormous amount of

Continued  sorry for all the words...

time and emotion on miss-represented dogs and in the case of Kraftwerkk9 an enormous amount of money on well bred, stable, healthy eager to learn and please dogs that have both passed Hip Certifications. I know my early experiences my have been due to my own ignorance and maybe I was just more educated and lucky with Kraftwerkk9. I would not suggest to anyone that they should buy a dog from Kraftwerkk9 but I wouldn’t suggest they get one from any of the other supposed noble breed loving breeders I got some of my other dogs from either. Just sharing my thoughts and experience, I’m troubled by who is right in the equation, the people who took advantage of me with sub-standard dogs or Kraftwerkk9 who took a lot of money but gave me great dogs.

Let me know your thoughts... Please don't bash me I'm not looking or a fight.

Why would anyone bash you?  I'm glad you are happy with your dogs from them.  I have looked at their website, and they look to have some beautiful dogs.  I don't think anyone is questioning that, just maybe Wayne's integrity.

You guys really think that Kraftwerk is the only place that treats dogs this way? There are a few kennels that I know of that have disease outbreaks and multiple litters, puppies with lack of attention and socialization, not to mention adults who do not get the attention and time they deserve. Some of which I know a few of you on this thread are associated with, so, do not throw stones. Basically, if you see more than 10 females on a breeders site, you can bet the dogs are lacking in something in one form or another.
