I'm flattered, Jodagirl!  I gotta say, you impressed me by accepting the counter.  Let's hope others can be as open.

I fear you may have one or two more rebuttals, as it is a long post, but tough it out!  Clearly by Two Moons response to the 'Oli or moderators' post others feel the same way you do.

"I fear you may have one or two more rebuttals, as it is a long post"

Is that because you believe more people won't bother to read the whole thing and just make assumptions? Well, then wouldn't that put them in a similar category to what I was in, prior to my change of heart? Hmmmmm........just a thought......

by ocoey on 24 June 2008 - 00:06

Yup, it would put them in that catagory!  Will they handle it as well?  Maybe they will want to borrow your crow recipe...

As soon as I get a tasty one I'll be happy to share.

I'm gonna go wash off my makeup, have a seat on my leather couch, and enjoy a burger while I watch TV; I hear the Travel channel is doing a special on China. You all have a good night.

Superdog,

I just watched the video from the link you almost presented and I must tell you, I believe whats on the video is real, but its propaganda.  No one in the fur industry skins animals in this way.  The fur is damaged and the skinner risk's injury and desease.  I used to raise Fox and Mink and this is not how it work's.  I would not be sending a donation at this time.

Actually, I think that was the link I posted. Superdog's no longer works. Yes, I agree, no doubt PETA picked the worst possible video clip to make its point. I certainly won't be sending a donation any time soon, either. And if you read my post about my friend who raises mink, you're right again, no one skins animals that way if they have another alternative that will keep the animal from kicking, struggling and trying to bite.

However, there is no doubt the video is real. (I'm talking about the skinning of the racoon dogs.) The other video is real, too, where a man chains a GSD to a fence, slices an artery in its hind leg, then hangs it up on the fence to bleed out before skinning. There's a gap in that video, and I'm wondering if he did hit it with a club to render it unconscious before hanging it up. Other videos you can find without much searching show cages packed with cats and dogs being thrown about 15 feet off a truck to the ground, and dogs being kicked and beaten before slaughter, because the chemicals given off by fear supposedly make the meat more tender. Obviously, their culture looks at animals in a much different way than ours.

As others have pointed out, change IS possible. Foxhunting has been banned in the U.K., and the North American attitude towards animals like the buffalo has changed dramatically since the early part of the 20th century.

Rather than just shrugging and saying "well, that's the way they do things. No point in trying to change it," I am wondering if countries taking part in the Olympic Games in China can find a way to put pressure on the country to change. Not everyone in China agrees with the way these animals are treated, and protests have already made an impact:

China pledges to stop cat and dog fur trade

I guess for once I have to say, "Thank  you, PETA!" though the words kind of stick in my craw!

I'd damn well like to make crow meat out of the feathered b****ds that got the baby robins from the nest in the oak tree on my front lawn!  About 2 days after I first noticed the eggs had hatched (shells on the ground under the tree), I saw part of the nest lining was lying on the ground, too. When the parents stopped swooping past my window as they searched for food for the babies, I knew something was wrong. I put a ladder up to the nest tonight, and, sure enough, it was empty.

Sunsilver,

Sorry to hear that sun.  Watching birds raise their young can be inspiring and joyful.

jodagirl,

Pound the breast's with a meat tenderizer until its flat, then marinade in your favorite mix.  Then mingle the piece's (4to6)with bacon on a kabob stick and lightly grill over charcoal, add lemon on the plate.....:)

I haven't had crow but during the depression it was not unheard of.   This is my wild dove recipe, a bird equally as tough I'm sure.     I suggest red wine.

It'll be fine, don't sweat the small stuff.

"Educanine,

All you can say is WOW?  Thank-you for you poignant and thought provoking contribution."

What should I contribute?  You said yourself : I straight up don't give a sh*% what anyone else thinks or says.  My feelings on this are intensely powerful and cannot be swayed.

Sounds to me like you just declared your mind as closed.  In my experience a closed mine cannot be provoked to thought no matter how 'poignant' a comment.  LOL."

My thoughts exactly. Isn't this the same Jodagirl that is apart of Steve Lino's crowd? If she is that'll explain why she's closed minded.
