We are in the process of working things out as the dog was never spayed but also has not come into heat...She still needs to go back to the vet to determine why she hasn't come into heat and fix whatever is wrong with her...As far as what price I'll pay, after speaking with my breeder we have decided that we will come up with a fair price making the dog the priority and not the money...
Just so its said; there are no problems between the breeder and myself and I think that they are good GSD people who only have the best interests of the breed in mind...
I apologize if I gave the wrong impression about them (the breeder) and the idea that I was attempting to force them to bring the price down by using the database as a sounding board...That was not my intention at all, I did however want the thoughts of you all so I would know what FAIR was...I know now more than I did then...
I never did mention the breeder by name but someone else did which caused a lot of pain to both the breeder and myself, infact it almost cost me the dog...Once I take possesssion of the dog I will show both her name and a picture of her so anyone with an interest can see...
Thanks for all the support and help, most of you out here are great and I enjoy coming here unlike other places on the net...

Well...after reading this thread. I must say, why did the breeder not get the dog checked out by the vet after they realize the dog never came into heat? Why did they assume the "foster" home had the dog spayed? Did they bother to contact the foster home's vet and verify any of the accusations they made against them?
I am assuming, in order to be a "foster home" for anyone - breeder or rescue or friend - you would want to know the name and number of the vet that would be used for anything. So the question of the foster home not giving them any paperwork stating such is unfounded.
This may be a good dog, but I would question the ethics of the parties involved, and I hope that the outcome is that the dog ends up in a loving and responsible home.

There has been too much time and conversation between my first post and this post to go into details...The dog is going to a loving and responsible home, mine... As soon as we determine what or why the dog hasn't come into heat (we do know she hasn't been spayed) and have whatever problems she might have addressed she will remain with the breeder who will hold her for me until that time...As I said in an earlier post the term "foster home" might not have been the best choice of words...She was not with the breeder while she was a pup at all times...
I do appreciate your concerns but at this time its pretty much a dead issue between myself and the breeder as we have worked things out between us to our satisfaction and the dogs best interests...Again there are no problems between myself and the breeder even though some here attempted to "throw gas onto the fire"...The dog comes first and when its all said and done I will tell anyone who is interested what her name is, until then the people I am dealing with are terrific people with only the breeds quality and improvements inmind...
This thread has caused pain to both myself and my friend the breeder, it almost cost me the chance to buy this beautiful dog, lets allow it to fade away...I will answer any questions anyone has by e-mail though at mrarebe@netscape.net...

Well congratulations on (hopefully) getting her. I hope you thoroughly enjoy her! :)
We "adopted" a supposed 6 year old German Shepherd last year or the year before. However, we got her off an online classifieds site as "free to a good home." Little did we know that she is the one and only Ursel t'Palmaleinehof. She was definitely NOT 6 years old; I think she turned 10 last year actually.
Have fun!

I'll get her, she is mine just need to pick her up which we will over the summer just as soon as we finish relocating...For now she is safe and in great hands with the woman who bred her...She is impecibly bred but my not turn out to be able to breed...Looking into that now...
Ursel is from the "working" side, something I know little about, but from what i saw a very nice pedigree...I have always been a "showline/sporting" type of GSD owner...This is my first "really well bred" GSD the others were either BYB or recues with unknown history...Truth is I've always had GSDs but this will only be my 5th one as they all but 1 lived to be 13-14 yrs before they passed...
Once we do have her in our home there can be no doubt that both the dog and I will enjoy eachother, I hope to give my girl an even better life than she has now and I know she is happy where she is...I live for my dogs and she will have a better existance than lots of kids out there...Better food anyway...
Thanks,
Rob
