desert Ranger you could well be right about the poor dogs future but its a wait and see .I do think you perhaps should have read the posting a little better before attacking :} i know it gets you mad seeing something like this but the lady who saved the dog is not all at fault and thus far hasnt warranted a full fledge attack :}.

i stand corrected. she was nine months old when she got pregnant. she was 11 months old when she had the puppies.still not right by me though. here is the whole story. said "breeder" "rescued" sydney and her sister quincy from a home where they lived under someone's house. she had the intention of breeding these dogs anywhay. brought them to her kennel. sydney got knocked up by her stud dog. sydney had puppies. "breeder" sold all but two. i've been wanting a gsd for a long time. my hubby wanted a male. both puppies had weak ears and one only had one testicle decended(stud dogs great grandfather). wanted 500 for the puppy with one testicle. wanted 300 for sid. said she was not what she was looking to breed.(she breeds west german high lines, although now she states that she breeds ddr lines as well)she was a throw a way because she didnt think she would bite (we proved her wrong!!:) she says she trains schutzhund dogs but has been asking me to handle a dog for her for some seminars, which i have no problem doing because it affords me the oppritunity to work with more dogs learning about schutzhund. i work one other dog but will not mention her name due to the negative attatchment this post might create. she has no affiliation with this "breeder" in question. because this woman aquired sydney and had no hand in the breeding of sids. parents, i would say the pedigree's accurate. her father has had his hips done, and if i remember correctly, they were normal. 2 other littermates from the fathers litter were also ofa'd. one being fair, the other excellent(i looked up numbers on the ofa website). i have no info on the mother other than her akc #.i would like to know a lot more, but my research has turned up nothing, other than there is a kennel in the us by the name of von firehaus. so that is where i stand, what i believe, etc.....

To address the original question...Judging from just the pedigree, IMO $300 is a fair price for what you recieved...she's a pet and not worth more than what you paid. Her pedigree is mediocre at best...yes some nice dogs further back on the sire's side. But the parents aren't titled and there isn't anything of value on the bottom half from what can be seen before there's no info listed. With that said, it sounds she's very lucky to have been rescued by you. What makes her valuble is your feelings for her...I too have a similar one...Mediocre pedigree, dysplastic, noise sensitive bully she is, but I wouldn't sell her for a million dollars, lol. My OPINION...If you are seriously interesed in breeding...have Sydney spayed, get involved in SchH with her, learn everything you can about the breed and training, drives and working ability...THEN go purchase a quality breed worthy puppy or adult bitch and go on from there. You don't know until you start training in SchH what you are looking at...trust me I've been there. ALSO: Even if Sydney's hips ofa's excellent...most of the dogs behind her are even Hip certified that is very important. JMO, Melanie

Hey, I'm one for making people happy...DesertRanger, I'm putting my Rambo-red headband on...checking my weopondry...looking for high ground ;-) I'll be ready to fight with you in a minute here...damn, that high ground is awfully high indeed. I need a cup of coffee before I get ready to fight with DR. ::Taking a coffee break on the slope while I sharpen my dagger::

Not sure what to think. I want to believe the best but when the story changes???? Quote # 1 oh, and did i mention she had a litter of 10 puppies at 9 months old (accident, but she still sold the puppies for more then i bought her for) she's going to be ofa'd when she turns 2. Quote# 2 she had the intention of breeding these dogs anywhay OK.. I will now believe the best. Good luck with your new dog!

this story is just a tad bit fishy. you said the breeder you got the dog from rescued the dog from underneath someones house? call me crazy, but if the dogs were rescued then how did the breeder get ahold of the papers? take GSDfans advice, your dog may be really good to you,but wait till you have the pleasure of owning a REALLY good dog. there is a difference in confidence, and other areas.

I DONT THINK ITS A GOOD DEAL AT ALL.....THE OTHER PUPS IN THE LITTER ARE DUDS .....u ASK ....enjoy her as a pet, get her spayed dont waste ur money on OFA U dont breed a dog from this kind of beginnings....dont really know if its all real U havae to be able to prove where ur dog came from to get any further in breeding and Schutzhund...so just love it as a family member....and train it for ur liking.....
