Jim, Jim, Jim,
You forgot professional athletes!! Like you, I am curious as to why anyone thinks these folks are somehow sacrosanct? I know a lot of folks who think/thought they were above the law. Oddly enough, most of them are convicted felons!! It's called "delusions"--NOBODY is above the law, not even the US President. (I thought we had established that some time ago, with a "pardon" of some kind....

GO to the POLICE! From what you have written, I don't see where the pup is tattooed (@3wks), microchipped, or had DNA tests done. Plus, pups' appearances often change a lot over the course of a few months. If you see them with a younger pup in a couple of months, how are you going to be able to prove that it is your missing puppy? The standard of proof may be less in a civil court, than a criminal one, but you still must present proof. That may become more difficult to do, as time goes on. At the very least, make the report.

If no one is home, I'd walk right up to the door, listen for a bit and then knock on the door, listen some more. Maybe barking dogs will get the little one whining and you can hear. I'd be looking in any windows not drapped closed and have my ears wide open. Look for signs of tiny puppy poop, or anything that could help your case.
First things first, you need to make sure you even know their real address. I'd call them really stupid to hand you their real address, if they stole form you, but stranger things have happened. Not much calling the cops will do, unless they have the pup outside when the police roll up. They do not have to let them in to do a search, so unless they cave to a little push from the cops (doubtfull since they were bold enough to steal right under your nose) all you will be doing is pissing them off and forcing them to hide the pup better or ditch him quick. There go your chances of getting him back quickly.

4pack, you have good ideas also, I have an animal control officer that got a pup from me, and she sent e-mails to at least 30 other AC officers. I also have people doing drive bys that live near the people I suspect. I think he did hand the pup off to his friend.
GSDtravels, the ideas you have, were what I was thinking about saying, after all, we have had bad flooding in our area, and we have been pumping water out of our yard & basement, so we have been very busy, and they got the same flooding, maybe if I did mention their friend in a round about way, I could get a name, I did get the town he lives in, so I do have alittle info to go on.
I am also going in person to tell various dog trainers about pups misfortune.
I will never forget about him, and I will always be looking for him, always!
Thank you so much everyone for your ideas, keep praying that he's safe and alive, and that I'll bump into him sometime in the future.
I am heartbroken...........
This SUCKS!

I don't understand why you haven't gone to the police???
If somebody stole something of mine, especially a living breathing animal, I wouldn't hesitate to call them immediately???
Makes me think there is more to it.....

why haven't you gone to the police? What are you waiting for? Could you please explain this to us? AC is not the right people to go to, you need to go to the police. If you really want the dog back go right away, that is your best bet if you really think you have a suspect. You never did say that this person was in LE, just alluded to that? What is the real story?

I firmly believe that what goes around comes around, I have led a fairly honest life raising 8 children, I believe I'm no better than the next person, I feel that the people that I suspect may have taken my puppy just made a very bad judgement at that moment, and if they returned the puppy back to me, I would be ever so grateful, NO questions asked, if they feel uncomfortable, than hand it to a AC officer or a police officer, or a person wanting a $ 500.00 reward, please just return him so he can play with his brothers & sisters, and learn some dog manners from mom & dad.
I am relying on the power of prayer.
He only lives 30 minutes from me, and his friend lives right next to his town, so I will be hearing about this pup in the future,
Here is a picture of his twin sister.....I took today, they are 5 weeks old tomorrow April 5th 2010, and yes, I would love to have an Easter miracle...
