First, I read this because I have been contacted in the past by these people and am GRATEFUL that Hoodie came forward with this post - thank you!

If you look at the dogs on their website and notice the hair coats on them, as an animal nutritionist, I would have to say first, that I would have to have a real look at the dogs but it clearly appears that  the coats on these dogs are "held" meaning, they are not shedding properly.  These don't look like pictures of dogs just bathed and partially dry, but fur that does not shed  and rough, and so we look at malnutrition.
It makes me gasp.
So sorry to see this.

Said person is back in the breeding business once again--and I know that at least some of their puppy buyers know the story, and are willing to overlook it. I don't believe they should even *own* a dog again, let alone be breeding them"

Hexe the puppy buyers have not "overlooked" what happened during this incident. In fact far from it. All one has to do is contact this breeder directly and ask for the story. Since the news is only for exciting and fun things, it hasn't been covered, however the charges HAVE been dropped against this breeder. But only if one is willing to take the time to quit spilling gossip from their mouths, sit down and listen, one might find out the truth.

Everyone loves good gossip, and everyone loves to make others look bad to make themselves look better. Its called being a bully. But heres something thats taught in grade school: When you point your finger at someone, you still have 3 fingers pointing back at you.

This breeder is far from neglectful towards animals. I've found the only people who avoid learning the facts, and continue to bring up this old story are the folks who are either Jealous, or have dogs that are direct competition to this breeders dogs, or who really have nothing better to do than be negative. So of course, they are going to make this breeder look as bad as possible to bring up their image, and have something juicy to share.

I'm sorry that these people who continue to bring up this story repeatedly are so self conscious. I'm sure its hard to live in such conflict with yourself. But inflicting negative comments towards others because of your misfortune or poor attitude in life is poor sportsman ship. Don't be a sore loser.

This thread is about a specific situation in Colorado. Read the first few posts. That being said,

The post above this one  is unbelievable. I cannot imagine EVER forgetting and leaving human children or dogs in a closed up vehicle in the heat. To make any excuse for this is reprehensible. How on earth can one forget the dogs are with you, leave them closed up in a vehicle for some time in the heat and not EXPECT that they will be seriously ill if not dead (dead was what happened in this instance).

There is NO EXCUSE for this incident where the woman let the dogs expire in the vehicle due to heat.

Hodie, no point in arguing. It's the same mentality as when tiny kids are left alone w/large dogs and everyone sympathizes with the parents instead of holding them responsible for the death of the innocents (in most cases both dogs and children) in their care. If people had an idea they might be held accountable, perhaps they'd err on the side of caution.

I cannot agree more.

 Agreed 100% Jenni!

I looked at a web site or an ad for a dog for sale here in the last day or two and was dismayed to see the person who owned the dog (or puppy litter) using a photo showing a small child sitting on top of a GSD who was lying on the floor. I wanted to smack that adult. Children should be taught to behave appropriately around dogs. It is no wonder why so many bites happen when parents don't have enough common sense to stop behavior like this. Worse yet, having such a photo suggests that it is ok for any child to do this with any dog.....It is inappropriate, regardless of what a wonderful temperament a given dog may have.

Sorry Hodie, to interupt your thread, but I don't think the information regarding the groomer's charges being dropped is accurate:

Regarding the dogs that died in the back of the groomers pick-up:   http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/22142416/detail.html

"Jennifer Rainey was sentenced to 12 months probation and she must pay an $1,100 fine after prosecutors said she killed two German Shepherds in August by leaving them in a hot vehicle."

------------------------------------------------------

Actually, this kind of does dove tail right into your thread.  When are the courts ever going to hand down sentences with teeth when it comes to animal cruelty?  The above case is a perfect example.  Now not only is this girl who was a groomer and a breeder, who knew better, breeding again, she is apparently telling people the charges were dropped?  WOW!!!  If she were a decent and honest human being she would have used herself as a cautionary tale to perspective buyers, instead she takes NO responsiblity once again.  Shameful, no?

Sueincc,

No problem with your post and yes, the thread can certainly branch and use dove tails just as yours does and others too. I am glad you looked the incident it up because I intended to but had not had the time to do so. I remember the person who left the dogs in the truck to bake was also sentenced and fined. I cannot speak to what this woman has told others, but yes, I agree that the honorable thing to do, at the very least, would be to use the horrible situation that occurred as a cautionary tale. If indeed she is telling others something contrary to the court record, someone will find out and hopefully pass it along.

Again I say: the courts cannot hand down sentences that are not provided for in the law itself. That is the real problem. The problem is that the laws themselves are not strict enough and the penalties are all too often way too soft.

Hodie, I saw that too. I confess I have perched my child on a dog or two for a photo to show size comparison as he grew (he was 2 mos. premature) but I would not post them to advertise for pups for the very reason you state. This is NOT appropriate, and if my child ever did that on his own,  he would be very sorry. There is no end to people's stupidity.
