Sure, titles are nice. Of course I'll be happy for them when they get them. Mine are all young yet, so only a couple have titles thus far as they are just barely old enough for BHs. They are a great way for certain people to work with and bond with their dog. Working toward one (and by title, I mean ANY kind of working venue) is also a great outlet for a dog w/a lot of energy, intelligence and drive.
But I will not answer "yes" without qualifying that a proper home is first and foremost, and I will always sell to the person who will take the best care of the dog rather than the person who will gain me the most attention as a breeder.
A few bars of German chocolate never killed anyone. ;-)

That's frustrating, V. I didn't notice; I hadn't looked for it.
Now I guess we aren't allowed to warn people against thieves and frauds. Who knew?! This truly is an equal opportunity forum now, LMAO.

I think that breeders would LIKE to see all their pups titled, to show the public the quality of the dogs that they produce... and to develop the potential that is in each puppy.
That being said... not every pup is going to have Schutzhund as their forte! We've two working line dogs. Ike I KNOW would excel in Schutzhund if he had that kind of upbringing, or if I had the $ to have someone train for me. I had hoped I could, but a combination of degeneration of the spine, and permeate damage to both shoulders and one knee. My best intentions can't happen, but he and I still have an amazing relationship playing ball, walking and being 150% devoted to each other. He's still the dog I want, and the relationship between us is what I've missed since the death of my last soul dog.
Our 2nd dog, Demi, is an absolute love bug. Smart, ball crazed, gentle, social... we started taking her to the hospital the other day, and her potential as a therapy dog is very very high. As we are working on a Psych ward with sometimes violent patients I have reservations about continuing with Ike as he has a very strong protective instinct... great for Schutzhund, not so good if a patient is throwing a chair at me.... He'd do fine in nursing homes, regular hospital visits, schools, orphanages, etc...
We still have plans to get a CD, CGC, TDI on both dogs, Demi would do well as a herder also as she runs low and has a direct focus eye, and a calm manner.
It saddens me that the versatility of the GSD isn't appreciated by more people in the fancy. That to many, ONLY Schutzhund titles are considered proof of a dog's quality. I wonder if a top competition prospect could make a good dog for Seeing Eye?? Or for Herding... or for S&R, as a K9 assistance dog???
I know that the breeders of both my kids would LOVE to see titles on them, but I hope that they are also happy that the dogs are happy, well adjusted dogs who turn heads, and greet people happily as good ambassadors for the breed.

Jenni, miles stole a pic of one of my dogs and advertised her for sale and when I tried to post about it my thread was not only deleted but I was banned! Something IS not right with that and there must be a mod that has some personal issue with me!
