Well said Red Sable, even a smidgeon of compassion never goes amiss. I do not condone what she is alleged to have done, but we must develop some understanding of how people can get into this mess (and result in poor anmals suffering) and focus on early intervention if we have knowledge of similar situations. In any event, bullying does not help to solve the problem.

What Sock Puppet did or didn't do is completely irrelevant to the main issue at hand.

I did nothing wrong hence no criminal charges unlike some other person here.

"we must develop some understanding of how people can get into this mess (and result in poor anmals suffering) and focus on early intervention if we have knowledge of similar situations"

Animal hoarders are similar to pedophiles - despite what the shrinks say, very few of them can be "fixed" by counseling, medication etc.  There's something wrong with their brain wiring that's just too deep to get at through any contemporary means.  There is no such thing as an ex-cat lady, only a latent one waiting to re-emerge.  Even serious cocaine addicts have a better chance at recovery.

1. Bartmess has a large breeding facility of dogs who live in rabbit hutches. They are all killed in a convenient lightning strike in the late 1980s.

2. Bartmess is convicted ten years ago of abuse of 64 dogs.

3. 2010: Bartmess is breeding dogs again, her third go-round that I know of. Who knows how many times in the real world.

2010 06:03 PM from DDR-DSH

Father is Arek von uns Heimaturt, SchH3.
Mother is Hesie von uns Heimaturt, SchH1.
They are on the database.
She's got a strong influence from Birko von der Wolfshöhle, so no surprises that she has a high apititude.
I can send some pictures, later, but they do not do her justice. She is very pretty. The
price is $3,000. That's a bit steep, I know.. But, she really is exceptional in her potential. I have a brother of hers, also, and he is a very nice dog with good potential, but you can find many dogs like him. He does not have the talent that she does.
The price will go up as she gets older and has more training into her. Right now, she's a bit of a spoiled brat. I have done nothing with her in regards to obedience.
These pups did have some imprinting on obstacles, early in life. But she is about a lot more than imprinting. She was born to be who she is.
This litter produced consistently dogs with extremely good nerves, no startle response (exceept for one pup, who was sold as a pet). There were five males and none were cryptorchids. Two lush coasts, but not bad. This one female ("Dulce") was my pick female, but came up short one premolar. I could keep her, but I am trying to be picky, to keep the breeding program focused and on track. This was considered a fault in East Germany, so I don't consider her to be a breeding bitch.
I can send some older pictures if you are interested, or maybe I can take a couple of new ones. It's been raining here, so not much chance for that.
Of course, I need to get her x-rayed before any serious discussion happens. I'm not in a big hurry to sell her. But I can see that she is really ready for training, and so I thought I should offer her and begin some dialogue to find a serious trainer for her. I am not in the business of selling dogs and I won't sell her to just anyone. I want to find the right owner for her.
I have straw down for the dogs and I went into her pen yesterday to clean. I brought a wheelbarrow in with me, and she jumped right up in it. It rocked a bit, but this didn't bother her one bit. She tried to look over the front end, and when she felt the balance shift, she just backed off a little, to find the balance point. I was waiting to see how she was going to get out, and to my surprise, she lowered her hind legs out, first, then jumped out completely (almost swapped ends to do it). Then, she was trying to bite the tire. LOL. I know how hard she can bite, so I had to take her out and crate her. She was grabbing my rake (trying to steal it), and making all sorts of trouble! LOL
She's a really fun dog!
Thanks for your interest!

I am shocked, SHOCKED that the resident troll here would defend a fellow poster with deep psychological issues.

DFTT.

Maggie well then why don't you do something to get her real help instead of sticking up for her constantly.

Love it.

Kimmelot,
Why don't you send your dogs to DDR-DSH for boarding?  Since you think this is beating a dead horse.

"The price is $3,000. That's a bit steep, I know."

Steep?  STEEP?  This is a puppy we're talking about, right?  And one that isn't even breedworthy under the standard?  That's so "steep" it's perpendicular.

But maybe Red Sable and the rest of the Kindhearted Brigade have the money to go buy one, and thereby give Jan the "help" she needs.  Hey Red, I even have a name you can give the pup:  "Sucker"!
