lol thanks moons
I think I have a pretty good idea of what I am looking for, in regards to personality, temperament and drives, but I'm still working on what I want in body type (though over angulated dogs are a BIG NO in my book)
Anywho I am in no rush as I have plenty of time before I am ready to adopt my next dog.

Keith Grossman
Whilst you Guys have been posting i have been sleeping, But i did read you bit about me evading the question
Keith i have not evaded any question, Simply because this thread is about one Kennel - Breeder, Not any other Kennel or Breeder so it really is pointless bringing any one else into the Fray and it is unfair to do so anyway, and to that end you can take my word for it or not that i have not even opened the Link to the other breeder as it is not applicable to this thread and to bring another into it is grossly unfair to them ,
I have nothing more to add to the OP who started this on this Kennel in question i cannot add any more than i have, but i will ask you one plain question and the OP as well
Let me say you have a Female German Shepherd Dog Lets say she is a fairly well bred Dog
What criteria would she have to meet or be before you bred any Pups from her, Do not say you would not breed i am asking if you were to breed from her, this question applies to the OP as well, not such a hard question to answer

I take it to mean that you just give up trying
the rescue shelter situation is never ending but everyday people work to find as many dogs homes as they can, it makes a difference. If we can educate people on what a reputable breeder is and is not, that will make a difference too
I'm not saying to go find this person and I dunno picket their house or something. like I said before the wording of the title was just how it was sent to me and I copied it. I stated the purpose - to spread the word. There's nothing else I can do and the few minutes of my time to pass it along was worth it.
@ Scarlet
based on her website and her dogs lack of titles and her stated breeding ideals one can come to this conclusion. If you come across a breeder you are interested in then yes of course go see them and further your research into the breeder but some you don't need that much effort. We should all be responsible breeders and buyers but unfortunately not everyone is. Look on craigslist or pick up a newspaper and look in the pet section. Why go through the effort of researching etc.. when you can pick an ad and pay the cash and get a GSD. Somone may know just to look that the parents have had their hips checked and think that is a good breeder and that is not the case. That is a reason I feel that BYBs who pose as reputable breeders are worse.
I have not spent a lot of time on this board, I see a lot of foul language and personal arguements in some threads and it seems to be pretty much like a craigslist board with virtually no rules - not really my cup of tea. I have seen "finding a breeer" "choosing a puppy" sections on germanshepherds.com and germanshepherdhome.net both sites seem friendly and full of knowlegeable people you may want to extend your research to those sites if you haven't already (not saying this place doesn't have knowledgeable people just giving more options for you)

Thanks for the welcome nona :)
I had been shadowing the site as a non registered member for a short while to look through pedigrees, and finally joined since I found the wealth of breeder links in the database :P
on a completely unrelated note do u know of anyway to have my font and color as the default for the message box?

well steve that is a pretty unfair question. I am not a breeder nor have I claimed to be. I have only basic knowledge of the genetics involved in breeding so as far as her stud goes I will have to leave that out. I'm also limited on knowlege on showlines and what is winning in show rings so I'll stick with working dogs. So say I had a WL bitch with an excellent pedigree what would I do to prove her breedworthy - I would want at least "good" hips and elbows I would not settle for "normal" (that is my personal preference) DM checked, CERF checked, OFA thyroid checked, any other genetic test I am forgetting. She would have to meet the breed standard both physically and mentally. some titles I would want on her would be -
SchH3, AWD1, PD1, P1, PA, URO1, T1, CGC, TT, HT, BH, FH, KKL II -- again the stud would either improve or compliment this there are other titles I would like the pair to have myself but its not common for females to earn them. as stated already these are my preferences alone. point though is her pedigree in no way would mean I would slack off in proving her

Keith, pointyears, excellent posts I agree 100%, but you have to be dedicated to the breed as a "WHOLE" before one can understand your points. I do not see many here who are......, dedicated to their own?..... yes. I have been owned by German Shepherds, NO OTHER BREED, for a lifetime, they have been a way of life never once did i ever stray from WHAT I COULD DO FOR THIS BREED, and not WHAT THE BREED COULD DO FOR ME. This was taught to me by my father, who also spent his life doing the same. It's a passion, an obsession, so pointyears I too will speak out every time I see a breeder like this, those that don't... do not have THE BREED at heart. To look the other way is doing nothing for the breed, but it is an never ending battle.

That is exactly what i wanted to here Nothing less, and that goes the same for me if ever i breed a round of Pups from my Female-s they will have to have it all in the work related line and the Breed Survey joints are paramount with me, one of mine coming up one year old is going through the early stages of the Show side in Preparation for her G or SG rating had she been two days Older than she is this coming Thursday i would have entered her for a Rating but alas she is two days too young 12 month old on Saturday
None of us want Dogs bred which are not within the Colours stated but this Breeder is on the right lines besides having that fault the one mistake does not make her a bad breeder
To me a really bad Breeder is one who treats there Dogs like a Puppy mill, does not bother about Joints, Colour, Titles, Breed Surveys or any kind of proven work for there Dogs also do not have the Quality of Dog in the first place and one can go on but this Breeder does not come into that Category by far The Only real thing in Question is the Colour of some of her Dogs and Breeding from them that is not responsible as we have said in prior threads but other than that it is better than a lot of others
Bazza,
Do you breed Puppies yourself if so do you have a Registered Kennel i would be interested to look at it

I want to know if you are the same person who posted on Loujuan's guestbook page , I qoute " SCH3 is a bare MINIMUM test for breed worthyness". if thats the case, very few dogs pass your standards. even some of the top bitches in the world.
this is obviously a pointless thread and no reason to keep posting. If I was an LEO K9 officer, I would probably have more important things to do, and find a better way to pass my time than to worry about someone like Loujuan.

no that is not me, it may have been someone who passed this along to me or received it. there were over 50 emails attached to the message I received. I don't agree that SchH 3 is a minimum for all dogs I would certainly prefer 1 of the pair have that title but that is my preference.
I am posting in my freetime LEOs don't work 24/7. I have already explained a few times in this thread why I care. This thread has continued because I have been responding to questions.

Steve, nice to know you are so interested in me, thanks. Haven't bred a litter now in 11 years, so no registered Affix any more. Got kinda fed up coming up against breeders like the one mentioned. But legally I never bred a litter or owned a dog, as all paperwork for every litter and adult were in my good wife's name. With the exception of my first dog, she was "officially" the breeder/owner. Several of our dogs are submitted here but not by either of us. But rest assured Steve, since the breed survey was introduced here every one of my animals were graded class1, all hips were done, never bred or owned one with a score higher than 17, males were heamo tested, show grad V. ALL conformed to the GSD standard, after my early Alsation era.Now this was before elbow grades were commonly done, and Sch was just starting out before you ask. Bred litters to better what I had, if I couldn't I wouldn't. No I won't link you to any of my wife's dogs, as I have always said they, me, my family, my business are Not up for any sort of scrutiny on an Internet chat room. Is this enough information Steve? Yes? Good. No? tough!! NO OFFENSE INTENDED, SINCE I KNOW HOW TOUCHY THIS PLACE CAN BE.
