"Wondering where these figures come from. I was trying to find information on the AKC site, and I couldn't find GSD-specific data. I did find some all-breed information that would seem to make these figures unlikely:"

Trust me, it's likely.  They don't publish those figures online to my awareness, but here's a scan of last November's paper publication, showing 1,100+ GSD litters for the month of September.  Remember, not every one registers their dogs, and not everyone registers their litters either, for that matter.  The GSD is without question in my mind very overbred, and I see at the most maybe two or three litters every couple years that I find personal appeal for, including european bred ones.  I'd even venture to say that I'd consider over 90% of all breedings to be complete trash in my opinion.

Thanks, EK! Sometimes I think I am just rambling, and sound like I'm full of crap.. LOL I'm sure I do, to some people.. oh, well! ;-)

After looking at that site, I don't think that they are AR activists, for sure.. But, oddball types can cause all sorts of trouble and can be unbelievably vindictive. They do tend to go way overboard when they feel as if they have been violated, or not getting their way.. Sometimes the motivation could be money. And, overzealous / unethical prosecutors don't care WHAT really happened, as long as they get the complainant they need to make a case. They get someone to swear to something (charges) and from there it's not easy for the complainant or witness to back out.

Some of the prosecutors really look for those "political" cases.. in other words, cases that represent a cause or issue that some lobbyist / special interest group is pushing hard to get into court. And, why do special interest groups want to get cases into court? Usually it's one of two reasons.. Either they want to make a media campaign to drive public opinion (often coinciding with their model legislation), or they want to form case law. Case law trumps and defines statutory law... the ledislation we pass into the books as law..  Well, at some point, a judge or judges may end up fine tuning or testing these laws, when an actual case is brought into court. Court cases require "conflict and controversy".. in other words, REAL parties. HSUS promoted a "puppy lemon law" in one state and later (soon, actually) there was a case brought against a defendant breeder in that state.. HSUS called it a "test drive" on their site.

But, remember.. The system is "complainant driven". This is a very important point.. This is how it all starts. Be very, very careful never to knowingly sell a sick puppy and always get that health certificate.. It's for your own protection. Document all your vaccinations and so on. Write it down. Your own written records (made at or soon after an event) are evidence! The first thing is that you don't WANT trouble getting to that point.

In this case, I don't think you have to worry, unduly. But, it's a good opportunity to reflect. We are living in a hostile world, now. There are people out there who hate us, and they have an agenda. Hard to believe, but they want to end or at the very least control the breeding of purebred dogs, for their own purposes. At the very least, they would say WHO gets to breed, how many, and so forth.. and collect handsome fees and penalties, then basically create a sort of regulatory industry for themselves, with the goal to keep themselves in power, forever... CORRUPTION!

I hate to say this.. I used to be a believer in "good government" and partnership between government and the private sector. Folks.. That's basically a mythical creature... a childhood fairy tale. Bad things happen to basically good people who had all the best intentions and faith in government. So, protect yourselves and team up with other people who have your same interest.. even if you cannot stand their guts, personally. This is the way that government works, now. If you haven't got a political power base to stand behind you, you're pretty much hosed.

Daryl, thanks for the info! What publication is that?

by TessJ10 on 07 April 2010 - 20:04

It's probably "Pure-Bred Dogs, The AKC Gazette," which is AKC's monthly publication.  It always has the registration stats in it, as well as feature articles and breed columns (Each parent club can appoint a columnist to write a column on their breed).

I hate to say this, but the dog that started all this crap is no where to be found on this dip shits website. But he can use or should I say steal pictures off of Melanies website to start and then drag Mike's name into the mix also. The female that is in question isn't pictured anywhere on that site and If I were Melanie I would contact this piece of work and have him take all the Andy stuff off his site.

This is the guys name Mitch McCormick at Guardian Angels Shepherds

Ghostly,
first I would like to express my sorrow that you have been draged into this.

I do not know the laws in the US too well, moved back to Germany in 2001, gosh, allready 9 years passed, but if you will allow me, here is a little advice :
Do not resort to foul language and esspecially not to accusations on a puplic internet forum. If it does go into a court of law, and your postings are presented to a judge, you might face some strong winds.
Other than that, I have nothing to offer. Do what needs to be done, but do it totally legal and with aim towards your goal. DDR and others provided you with a lot of info, and for my taste, very good info.

Oskar is right.. These things like postings, magazine articles and quotes DO seem to have a way of finding their way into courts of law, and judges can get pretty opinionated about the content. Lawyers / prosecutors can use such evidences to argue "state of mind". However.. It would be hard to beat what this guy allegedly said to you. That is way over the top, I think. THAT record should definitely be preserved, and presented if needed.

It's a very strange world out there, today. The nut jobs and over-reactive people were always out there, but they have a lot more access to anyone else out there on the internet. It's just such a fluid medium. You can meet a thousand people very easily in the same time you would meet one, without the internet. That increases your exposure, considerably.

Many years ago, I had the misfortune to meet a bi-polar guy through the dogs.. HUGE man, and quite intelligent, but not very functional, overall. If he didn't take his meds, he could get pretty crazy, from what I heard. Inevitably, these people will find SOMETHING to get upset about and if they fixate on  you, you've got trouble, for sure. We got along well enough, up to a point.. Then he got upset at me for something... I can't remember what it was, but I think there was some jealousy involved. Well, I had a strange incident in which one of my young bitches came up poisoned, and already too far gone by the time I discovered it. Classic signs of strichnine poisoning. Not pretty to see.. It happened that the back wall of the kennel was accessible by way of the neighbor's yard, and they didn't lock their gate or pay any attention to what happened back there.. Meanwhile, this guy had pharmacological training and had talked about stuff like this quite a bit. I have no doubt that he could have poisoned one of my dogs, out of spite.

That guy tried to re-engage me, later on. I had to buy back a couple of young dogs he'd gotten from me and that way, it was over. He tried to make nice with me, later on. I never returned his phone calls or allowed any contact, again. They say that is the WORST thing you can do, for several reasons. If the guy is nuts, it eggs them on. They feed on it. If you don't engage them, they don't get the feedback they need and hopefully switch their attention to someone else. They are perpetually harboring a grudge against SOMEONE.. You just don't want it to be you! And, you don't want anyone to say that you have threatened THEM, so when things go sour you're better off to make contact only through an attorney, and only if necessary. If you do feel that you are under threat to your personal safety, you should consider to make a police report.. but, nothing may come of it. Just preserve all your evidence and keep good notes and be careful.

So very, very true.  And SO applicable to certain people on this db!   Remember that!

I would like to clear the air with Mike West as he has been nothing but helpful with this issue and don't want members here thinking he was involved in any way with" Mitch Mc Cormick of Guardian Angel Shepherds". Now on the other hand "Mitch Mc Cormick of Guardian Angel shepherds" is a person in which has tried to con me out of money from a 11 month old dog that was sold to him a year ago. None of what he has told me was able to be verified due to him not letting on his property to see the female in question.
So until I'm able to see what he is complaining about I have to think of him and his wife as liars.

All I can say is I feel sorry for the female that I had sold him and only hope she is in good condition after recieving that nasty email from him

by tuffscuffleK9 on 09 April 2010 - 03:04

I have to say with all the others.  This is one more weird couple I do a lot of work with psych patients and if we started counting red flags pointing to their life issues; wow where would we stop.

There are too many things disclosing this guys PSYCHOSIS (and I suspect his wife is involved as well)

The email points to violence as well as lying issues.

The website is a lie besides being ugly.

I stay with what I have said before:  "Stay Away This Guy Is Dangerous"

Now let me add: "STUPID"

If it comes to going to see your dog have a LE Officer go with you due to the threats.  Or have someone appointed as your Agent (With a Notarized Document to the effect since the guy is such a jerk) to handle the transaction.  DO NOT GO BY YOURSELF. If he won't work under those conditions walk away and remind him that his action dictated your decisions.  Do not believe any apologies he lost that privilege with his email.
