Supposed to hit zero tonight, maybe...North Idaho...

At least it's not windy now!

We have a saying here,
If you don't like the weather right now, hang around,
It will change soon enough.

We had a dusting of snow this morning, enough to cover everything pretty well, brown mud in the afternoon.

Maddy swam in the river this afternoon, crazy dog.

Looks to be a windy storm, we'll have rain to the south and snow to the north, and everything in between along the river.
Toss a coin.
I've got my wood pile just where I want it, close to the back door.

MaggieMae your comment about global warming makes me laugh because I remember last year a meeting on global warming was canceled due to snow, lol.

On the other hand, I'm just toughing up and dressing up for it. I have a pack of Huskies and Anubis my GSD so theres no excuse for me to not get out and still walk them and work them all every day.  We might get in the teens here in the winter, not cold enough to stop me though.  This morning we went biking 7 miles and walking some after so they could get a good run.  I don't think that was even enough though, we're use to walking that much each day, but now I have a bike so I'm going to up it to nearly double that eventually (though I'm sure they could easily do a 14 or 15 mile run with no problem.  On average in the winter we don't hit the teens often so it really isn't bad.  We rarely ever get snow here either, though if you go about 2 hours east of us they get snow quite often.

I am so glad I have a new fireplace this year, it is a heatalator brand. I lose power at the drop of a hat. Will send pictures if it gets too bad.
Always,

Its getting pretty cold here too.  Hey Moons thanks for sharing about the sandhill cranes.  All we have here are geese and they don't migrate much anymore just stick around all winter so there might be something to this global warming stuff.

Your welcome Terri,
Funny thing about Geese, at least Canada's, they are rugged and many don't migrate if they have a good food supply.
I used to live closer to the Wabash river and a place called  Hovey Lake, beautiful place full of Bald Cypress.
Its about 100 miles west of here, but its on a flyway and the ducks and geese can be so thick during migration that they shadow the earth and the sound is unbelievable.
It just depends on where your at I guess.
We have Great Blue Heron who stay year round,  I don't know what keeps their skinny long legs from freezing.
The call of these Sand Hills flying over is really special to me, they've moved on now until late spring on their return trip.

Global warming as become a catch phrase for politics and big money, certain places will be warmer than normal, others not.
I would prefer people were just aware of global climate change and unusual weather patterns, floods, drought, extreme weather conditions in places that never have them normally.

Proven or not, what we do to our planet has consequences and can be easily seen if you only look.

4pack

Where is that damn rain? We should have had some freak snow. Instead it is just f-f-f-freeeeezing. 23 degrees right now and I can't sleep. I wish I had a fireplace to curl up in front of. So mush for global warming. What a crock! Just south of here our valley has had the biggest snow in 30+ yrs. Too bad we don't get to see or play in any of it!

A thirty year snow, a fifty year drought, a one hundred year flood, no ice for the Polar Bear, Australia is seeing lost crops from drought, places in Africa.
Mother nature has her own rules.

Ya need another blankie 4 pack?
