I think my point about the OFA Fair hips is that I BELIEVE that Ewo's poor hips ARE NOT environmental (as the stud owner has stated) but genetic!
Also, while OFA Fair is passing Ewo himself does not have a OFA or PinnHip rating....his owner has already said that his vet said one hip does not look good. The only reason for the stud dog owner NOT to send in for a for sure hip rating is because the hips ARE most likely bad.......ignorance is bliss, after all!
One more point to think about is that the female that he was bred too has a few a2 hip ratings within the first 2 or 3 generations! While the pedigree's might look nice and well thought out the hip status and possible production was not considered at all!
I am not as educated as you, Molly, but I DO have one bitch out of his first litter so the things I point out here are just my frank thoughts and do not benefit my female for me to bring them to light either!

Dale,
You can justify it anyway you want.......still in the end it doesn't make it right! I don't think anyone is trying to be "hip extremest" or whatever you said. Just trying to be EDUCATED about BETTERING the breed, which it is apparent that you don't give two shits about.....only selling puppies and collecting stud fees! Did you even look at the bitch's pedigree and see that 2 dogs very close up in her pedigree have a2 hips?????????
Bitch's father is a2 and has a ZW of 93(don't have a ZW for the bitch her self or her mother but Sid haus Grimm is pretty close in the pedigree too and I think his ZW is over 100,,,,,,,,like 103 I think)! Then add that to Ewo's hip status (that you refuse to get OFAed or PinnHiped).......equates to a litter I would never touch and some puppy buyers who are going to be heart broken!
Dale, Why don't you put all the hubbub to rest and get a PinnHip or OFA on Ewo.....PROVE that he has passable hips.....hips that are breedworthy! Unless of course, you are hiding something.......again.....ignorance is BLISS! If you don't know that he has bad hips then he must not! THAT'S a good form of reasoning!
If I EVER were to breed my Ewo daughter it would probably be to something with Aly Vordersteinwald! Do you see the reasoning here????? To IMPROVE the hips....isn't that what we are supposed to be about as breeders.....improving the breed? Doing it justice?
I tell you when I am ready to "make my mark" on the breed I want it to be a GOOD mark......not a black one!

I think YOU are the one with the mental block! You gotta have 2 good, as in passing, hips to function properly to be breedworthy at the least! Why is THAT so hard for you to understand? Most all EDUCATED breeders who do not hide their head in the sand do?
Did you do his elbows? What is their status?

Anyways, guys i called one of the Top rated vets in my area that handles OFA certifications. The doc said there is a chance if i was to purchase a pup from this litter it will or may have hip issues 30%-40% chance. He said he will call me later today or tomorrow to discuss this matter more indepth because I wanted to explain things more thoroughly to him about the pedigree, ratings, and training the dogs have. I bet the doc is not familiar with SV rating but we will see. The receptionist on the phone said there is no such thing as environmental HD. So I will have to ask the doc about that whole ordeal as well as training/pp work, etc so he understands the whole picture here. I want everything to be accurate before knocking anyone. This conversation will finally put my whole mind at ease about the situation and will be my deal breaker period so I can move on based on what is said when I get the phone call.
Thanks for all ya'lls help. I didn't know that this thread was going to get this many replies...amazing lol
