NOOOO Shelly you are doing wonderful! Much better than me ! I need to apply the scripture that tells me a soft answer turns away wrath!  YR was one that I was able to talk to and a calming spirit and much wisdom. Please stay above ground shinning  like you are now!

Shelley, forget the rock and find a nice shady tree and read the book,  THE SHACK. It is amazing. This author speaks through a fictional story of murderous tragedy, and gives the reader a view of the Trinity that suggests an answer to the question, "How can we love an omnipotent God that allows such evil to exist in the universe?"

Way more compelling than all the bible thumpers looking for converts on the PDB.

beetree  are you implying that we should not love a god that allows evil to exist ? From the reviews I have read on that book suggests a less than favorable opinion of God.  Is it your suggestion that we should not love a god that allows evil to exist? Or will your reply be smug and confrontational? Shelly I am aware of this book and would not recommend you even glancing through it!

Raymond your bible pounding runs off people - find another method and let the holyspirit guide you.  I think you are self guided and if the holy spirit was talking thru you - I don't think this thread would be going the way it is going....

To each his own Raymond, that's all I've got to say to you.

I believe in God.  I believe that we were all created by Him, and that He created all things.

That said, I don't go to church, don't subscribe to any of the religions out there, or their take on what the Bible means.  Each and every religion is simply a following of a single person's or group's interpretation of what the Bible says, and if you are doing something your particular religion says is wrong, you need only switch to another and it'll be alright.

I don't care to discuss the practice of religion, and why a specific person's is the right one.  Simply put, I am content to pray, do the very best I can to do what I think is what God wants me to do.  Beyond that, and I know I'm a perfectly good sinner, just like everyone else here, I can't do much else.  I'm a work in progress, I know that.  I curse, and sometimes, like right now, I'm lazy.  I let things get behind because I'm too busy procrastinating.  I sometimes talk about others, as in GOSSIP, and I complain a lot some days.  But God loves me, this I know, and that prick of my conscience, is, I think, His way of telling me I'm not doing what I should.  I'm getting better, but I'm a work in progress.

As for Steve, if he's not interested in religion, then that's none of anyone's business.  We all do what we think is right, and it's God's job to decide that on Judgement Day.  So quit pestering him, raymond..

I see a tendency to very little religion with veterans of vicious wars, and I imagine, if I had been witness to what they went through, I might feel a lot as they do.  JMO...

Boy, can I relate to most of the above. After active duty in two wars, you sure didn't want to ask my Dad about organized religion. He maintained that organized religion was the source of nearly all war, pestilence and greed in the world. He saw a lot of it, that's for sure. Raised strictly by a Christiam Scientist grandmother, refused medical treatment for impetigo as a child, I don't know if he EVER said a prayer from the heart in his entire adult life. I doubt it. He tried to live right, teach us the difference between right and wrong BY EXAMPLE, and that was that.

I feel the fortunately beneficiary of Daddy's honor and ethics, generousity, and his charitibility. Dad helped EVERYBODY, loved his children (and everybody else's) loved animals, righted wrongs whenever possible, and treated everybody with dignity and respect, whether he thought they really deserved deep, down inside it or not. He actually died fixing some kid's bike (fell off on a test ride) at age 78.

I guess I will never know if he got to heaven unless I get there myself, but I sure like to think he did.
There were a lot of my dogs waiting for him at the Bridge.

To Crys allow me to tell you that I am not pestering anyone.  the statement you made above is proof positive that you have made a god in your own image to worship. Yes you all do what seems right in your own eyes but doing what is right is your opinion and not that of our creator! Steve commented on my statement that he did not hate christians. Yet in my reply that he was in need of conversion  he then wished to do me bodily harm. Strange that one can harm someone and do it with no hate in their heart.I simply point out truths that are evident . And Crysbuck25 all the demons in hell believe in God and satan too. That does not mean they will not be sent to the lake of fire. You all can sit around  laughing and poking fun and cursing and swearing and expounding on all sorts of so called words of wisdom and philosophies! Yet when confronted with the truth you use all sorts of excuses to disreguard it!   OH Happy day I suppose you have the holy spirit running in you! Tell us Happy day what you know of the holy spirit? Are you knowledgeable enough to expound upon some of the characteristics of the holy spirit? Tell us what other method of information do people desire to hear to bring them to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ ? Can I conclude that you Happy day have that knowledge? All the complaints about ot threads and many come to this one labeled as a debate between two people which I never offered ! OH Well nothing changes

Raymond,

Give it a break...Steve didn't threaten you with bodily harm.  He just made it clear he wanted you out of his personal space and if it takes knocking you out of that space, you are going to bring it on & you will be the one doing yourself bodily harm.  Sounds like he was giving fair warning.  Do you continue to get in a snarling dogs face until you are bit and then blame the dog or do you back off?  And when Steve spoke of war he wasn't wishing that he could do it to you too.  He was baring his soul and letting you know that "your god" wasn't there when his "mates" needed him.  War brings out the agnostics in some, the faith in others.  Not your place to judge him for what he had to do. Take a step back, take a deep breath and save those who want to be saved.  Leave the rest of us to our hell and damnation in your lake of fire.  We won't be blaming you when the time comes.

Crys, you made a very good statement.  Thank you.

Shelley, don't blame yourself for another's problems, we don't blame you for what happens when you try to make a comment.  Some people just get too wrapped up in themselves and what they believe in and wonder why no one wants to discuss things with them anymore.  Not your fault.  Go enjoy your puppies.

Regards,
Deb
