I read the story of Herr Heyne's dog knocking the helper flat, Sunsilver. And I had to laugh about it too. That's what a GSD should be!  I went into the yard with a bite pillow to work my young boy and he flew across the yard and almost knocked me down already. Maybe he'll turn out to be a good one if I don't make too many mistakes. lol

Katjo, I have heard that Karl Fuller's son is active in the kennel. I wonder if he will carry on when his father retires? Hope so. I think you made a wise choice in dams.

I hate spending the kind of money Frawley wants for a video, but I might have to have that one, AnjaBlue. I love to watch GSDs doing herding.

I'm sure you got a great dog, Moons, even if things didn't quite work out the way you'd hoped.

Thank you, Sam. I think it was a smart move, too. I've never 2nd guessed myself on that. It was a 'gut' thing. I looked at their pedigrees, considered both girls, looked at what each female was producing (how were their progeny adding up to things and who had better ranking progeny and more able to be titled, etc), and slept on it. Zeckie drew my attention-she was it.

Yes, Matthias also does breeding, and I'm sure he will carry a high standard also-he's sure had wonderful guidance and instruction. However, he cannot operate under the same official kennel as his dad, Karl. Karl's dogs are the legendary "vom Kirschental" dogs-when he retires, that ends. Matthias' dogs/puppies produced by him are "vom Haus Kirschental". A small difference, but difference nonetheless. I wanted a puppy produced by the legend first and foremost, no offense at all to his son. I would not hesitate now to consider a future puppy from Matthias if he produced something that seriously pulled at me. I check their website from time to time to see what they have.

I just like the older bloodlines from way back.
My Indy is out of Fosko and Fenga.

I have to agree with you Moons - I think I remember Karl Fuller saying once that Fenga was one of the toughest dogs he ever bred, but also one of the absolute best: I think she had a special place in his heart. Amie vom Kirschental, the GSD who won the 1990 HGH Championship I mentioned above was a granddaughter of Fenga (through her mother Winnie). I don't know how active in breeding Karl still is, he must be well into his 80's - but up until recently anyway, he did periodically throw a working line into the mix to produce a stronger dog. If you look at Amie's pedigree he was doing the same thing back then - her father line through Eiko was essentially showline, though given that it was still the 80's my guess is the SL dogs were better then than they are now......
