"Did you check your puppy papers to see if they are marked limited?"

Excellent question.    My papers are not for a limited registration. It's a full registration dog. There was also no waiting requirement. My only requirement is to list the name of her kennel as part of his name full registration name. This is further proof that the dog was NOT sold to me as "pet quality only".

Gator

Do not give up on the Pup yet. there is still time for his nunners to drop, and certainly do not have him Neutered yet far too early to think about that

The best way is to consult your Vet but never be in a hurry to cut him, at his age

As for the price you paid , you did pay very high but you said that ia not the concern

You can get a excellent pedigree bred Dog over here for about $1000 plus shipping and it will be perfect in every respect  of it being sound heathwise, and you can be 99% sure its HIps and Elbows will be perfect

I did sometime ago ask around two clubs i belong to regards there own  Dogs Hips etc everyone said they had no problem regards that with there dogs

Give the Pup the benifit for now and see if they drop, Plus you have bonded with the little Guy

it is a bit of a blow for you as you have done everything right but it may yet turn out good

Steve

I am glad that you now understand.   You may very well be right about how my breeder will respond, I hope you are. I always give folks a chance to do the right thing before I take any serious action..... nobody needs to lose on this.    However, simply swapping dogs is out of the question. As I learn more about this GSD world and evaluate what so many of you good folks have told me, I have been developing an action plan. Here is part of it ----- I intend to talk to call the veterinary college in Washington State and talk to a BOARD CERTIFIED Veterinary Surgeon who should give me straight talk and cold hard truth. After speaking with them, I will meet with my vet, and call one other vet that someone told me about, and then develop a medical plan of action for my pup...... then I will call her.   I hope she'll be a sweetheart and she may very well be. She's been nice to me in our previous conversations, she has a business name she would want to protect, and she didn't just fall off of the turnip truck. But either way, I will have been educated on the matter and hopefully learned enough to be fair , and most importantly, my pups health will have already been the priority and he will get whatever he needs.
At this point, I believe she owes me a healthy $4000 dog. That's what I ordered, that's what I paid for, that's what I should get. I'll take a female this time around, at least I won't have to deal with testicles. LOL
Well, my sleeping pills are kicking in... my typing should get worse or even stop........

I agree with everything you said, except for one thing. I didn't do everything I could, and it kills me that my boy might be suffering because of my own incompetence. I should  have learned more about this testicle issue. Had I known early on, I might have been able to change the outcome for him. I understand that we can't always control nature, but I should have checked him sooner and questioned it sooner. Strange, I've had dogs for much of my life, mostly males and always starting with a pup, and I never had concerns of problems with their stuff. And, I have never had a dog neutered and all but one ( die due to an accident) lived long and happy.

Bottom line, as someone else said, he doesn't know there is problem and even without the life he might have had, he will still be a happy dog.

I do not know what that is all underlined and I am too tired to fix it.

Good night

Gator, if the testicles do not drop in time please make sure that you vet goes in and remove them. This will stop any issues that may happen further down the road as he gets older.

Hi Gator,

I just had a litter go to new homes already and all 7 male pups at 8 weeks old had their testicles,
I did have a lab awhile back that had 1 and at 6 months old had the other drop.

Has anyone ever heard of a male pup that is shipped on a plane, having his testicles go back up<

because of the plane ride, I don't ship my pups, so I was wondering if anyone has read an article about
a plane ride having something to do with it..........I think I read that somewhere...(Time to Google!)

If both testicles were there at the time of the first vet. check-up, than the vet. should have made a note of it,
have the breeder or you contact the vet, to see if it was noted.

Hi again,

Sorry Gater, I forgot to mention that your dog is extremely handsome!!!!!

So if you were going to neuter him anyway, you can wait for him to mature, it won't hurt him,

just make sure he gets neutered by the age of 2.

I don't think you got ripped off judging by his looks!

Thank you and just to make it clear.... I was never going to neuter him and have never said I was going to.  Even now, unless I become convinced that for his health I must, I will wait as long as possible.

Is your dog heavily line-bred ? Have you been able to locate his pedigree on this database ?

This thread is interesting and brings up good discussion involving a breeder, male dog and a buyer. I wish the breeder was included here ... because that would eliminate alot of questions readers might have or inquiring minds in medical theory speculate.

If the dog has no gonads in the scrotum @ 6 1/2 months old (and never did) it's safe to say genotype and phenotype both play a roll here. But, if this breeders Vet confirms gonads on his records during the first few visits .. genotype can be eliminated. Tables turn quick.

If you have found your dogs pedigree on this website, can you tell us readers if your dog was line bred and to what extent if at all. Depending. This could end the discussion quick from a medical theory of autosomal sex linked recessive gene.

I know your not gonna like me saying this .. but, your dog either way should be altered. To say you never alter any of your dogs just because, to me is selfish. No nads on a male at all @ 6 1/2 months ? This is clearly a health related issue ..

.. I wonder how the rest of the litter is equipt. I bet there's a female out there brass as hell.  LMAO
