A dogs coat condition has much more to do with genetics, diet,  exercize even climate  than  whether or not he sleeps inside or out..  Some people like to have their dogs around the house with them day and night, some prefer the dogs kenneled outside, some of us do a little of both.  None  is "better" and it has nothing to do with wolves or whether my dog wants to be with me or other dogs (who cares, he doesn't get to make that choice  anyway). I don't see where anyone had anything negative to say about people who choose to kennel their dogs, I don't understand how this became something to argue over,  this is just about personal preference.  Oh wait - it's the OPs fault BAD OP, BAD OP, you sly dog,  trying to start a dust up over how do people FEEL about where others keep their dogs.

I would like to know if anyone has any FEELINGS about  Dons special crate system  and 4Packs dungeon kennels?

It depends on the day and weather.  He's usually outside during the day, free run when I'm home, in the kennel when I'm gone.  If its too hot or rainy he's inside with me.  He's usually outside because my mothers little chi/pom terror is in the house wrecking havoc, and I dont want any accidents (the little one is a little turd and always instigates, then I have to hear my mother's mouth).  At night he comes in and sleeps in my room.

Thanks Dee,

you and your other half are on my "favorites" list.  I think common sense has been bred right out of the human race.  People are getting so stupid.  But hey, that's just my opinion.

A fair bit has been mentioned on this forum and indeed other Dog Forums regards some Dogs having skin problems G.S Dogs that is

Why does a Dog get problems with is skin, please answer that

I have never in my 60 years of owning Dogs, i have never seen an outside dog ever get any  skin problems But i have seen it many times when a dog lives inside the house, More so during the winter months when people have the central heating on

You will never see a farmers dogs who live olutside even get any skin problems plus the fact and a true one a Dog living outside grows a better quality coat than one living inside, i.e thicker

Nature looks after its own

I stated that when we moved to Belgium our Collie had to live in the house whist we got things sorted and built his kennel and run outside

His coat went dead and dull full of dandruff flakes within a week of living indoors this dog had lived its nine years of life outside from being bought home after being weaned

We even turned off the central heating and sat around in coats so the Dog was more comfotable, and it was 8 degs centigrade below freezing at the time with snow on the ground, but the dog detriated during that time of about two weeks to getting him soeted outside

A Dog living in the House from a Pup probably not react the same but get used to the living conditions inside the house

The Welfare of any living thing including Dogs and Humans is govened by the Blood

If the blood is not right then you will get problems in one way or the other and the Blood is dictated by living conditions and feeding or what a human or dog eats and the place it lives in

In your case probably the feeding is okay as you state you feed Raw and i expect you have the food balanced

Whatever we say on this forum nothing will change by any person on hear, they will continue to keep there dogs the same way, everyone of us thinking we are doing our best for them

On a final note for me if i cannot do the best i can for any animal, then i would pass it on to someone who could, and many on here would do the same

This is just a thread to say how we keep our Dogs not meant to slag each other off

and who is right and who is wrong

Hi Steve

You are right, this thread wasn't meant to try to make people feel bad about how or where they keep their dog(s). It sure wasn't my intent and maybe I read your post wrong about feeding raw but then having dogs inside too.The wolves v dog thing. So I was just trying to describe the difference in my home than others. I haven't had any skin problems so not sure why your Collie dog reacted like she did having to be inside. When I was a kid I had a Collie mix that was an outside dog. My folks let me have a cat in but not the dog. When it was really cold and snowy I would whine to let him in, we tried it a couple times and he just laid by the door and would pant like it was to hot for him. So we let him back outside. He was the only outside dog I have had. I know it is said skin problems are mainly caused from allergies. Maybe food or environment. Inside could have alot of allergens too, so maybe it is why some dogs react, dunno. At any rate I am sure your dog(s) are well cared for and happy campers. I think I did see his photos on here awhile back, in blue frames(?), nice looking dog.

Thats fine, nothing wrong in anything said.

Regards feeding Raw, i have said before that if it were possible for me to get all that is needed to feed my Dogs Raw at a cost i could afford then i would do so in a heartbeat, but it is not, So i feed what i consider to be the best of the kibbles that is Orijen along with Salmon Oil and a Vit E capdule plus a Raw egg  and shell a couple of times a week

On occasion i give them a Chicken portion for a treat and Fred 'really looks forewards to it

We are as i have said before what we eat, I do not eat Hamburgers or Frozen packed stuff from the supermarkets

or ready made meals i cook my own so i know what i am eating

only green vegetables or such which is as fresh as it comes So i really favour Dogs fed with a natural diet, but in my case it cannot be so

Steve, I remember you saying you use Orijen and it cost about $123.00 a bag. I use a little of it too. I think I posted this site for you to try www.doggiezbest.com , did you ever see what it would cost or if they would even ship to Belgium? They charge $57.99 a bag and now (it has gone up) if you spend $75.00 the ship is free, I am sure that is for within the USA, but they are really nice folks to deal with.
