Steve- I owned a Jack ONCE. lol It was the nastiest little bitch I ever owned. I swore she was possessed. Everytime the front door would open she'd jet threw your legs and out the door she'd go, she dug under the fence we installed and even rubbed her e-collar right off her neck to bypass the invis. fence we had in the backyard. There was no way you could catch her until she decided to come back. I had trouble with her wanting to fight dogs-ANY SIZE dog, she chased cars too and didn't like kids much either. My mother had bought her for my daughter as a birthday present and we never understood why she had such a nasty disposition when we raised her as a pup. The only person she liked was me even though I began hating her. I finally had to get rid of her after she nipped my little girl in the face. It was either find her a suitable home or turn her into cat food. lol
I can related to the rage you had to have felt when your dog got attacked out of no where. Just 2 days ago my 8 yr old was playing tennis or something at the neighbor's house across the street and all of a sudden this med. sized mutt started chasing them out of no where, my daughter panicked and was affraid enough that she began running home but the dog was pretty fast and managed to start jumping at her side clawing her before she was able to make it to the house, I'm in the kitchen and she runs in screaming like someone killed her and I panicked when I saw blood coming from her side. I calmed us both down, took a look at it and asked her what happend. She said she didn't think the dog bit her just clawed her.She told me the story and I put on my shoes and went out on a mission to find the owner. As I'm coming down my driveway I see the pick up truck with the doors ready to fall off coming down the road slowly and a man stops in front of my house...I was FLAMING MAD, the man asked if I saw a "little white dog running loose?" I said no, but I imagine it's the same "little white dog" that clawed my daughter and ripped open her side and chased her all the way home...he ignores me as my daughter lifts her shirt to show him the wound. He never even apologized which made me even more CRAZY, he then proceeds to ask if I know which direction it went and I told him hopefully towards the highway to chase a tractor trailer, the idiot then says "well if you see her I live at xyz and would appreciate it if you bring her home?" I told him if I see her I'll bring her home in the same condition my daughter came home in. I guess that made HIM mad and he says "listen lady I don't know why you're making a big deal about this, the cut is not that bad and it's a little dog, she just wanted to "play". At that point I just had to walk away shaking my head in disbelief.
I uderstand "things happen" but as a dog owner you must accept responsibility for your pets even when "things just happen". An apology at best would have at least brought my estrogen levels down a notch. lol
Glad to hear your pup is fine!

Agar
The Pup is Fine, I went to see the Farmer when he had finished work, i told him what happened, He said the Dogs do not normally get out, but they were no viscious,
I said they certainly were, and showed him the Graze on my hand now healing of what one's teeth had done, plus i told him of Goran, He said it was passed,
I said Yes so long as it does not happen again, If it does then i will do what i have to do, and then i will look for him
Right or Wrong i do not bother how he takes my words they are plain enough i never hedge my bets,
What he does or thinks he can do about it it not my concern, I will deal with it the best way i know how to.
Consqueses do not bother me one bit, Providing i keep safe and defend what is mine
