A person’s ip address can change each time they log onto the internet, even if it is on the same computer. It is called a dynamic ip address. Here is a link that explains the difference between a static ip address and a dynamic address and why they change.

Sure, I'll respond to Hundguy.  Why would I speak badly of Alex v Eisenhaus when A) his owners are my friends, B) I've used the dog in my own breeding program and recommend him regularly, and C) I have him on my own website advertised as one of the stud dogs I recommend and have used.   As for Molinari Enzo - I think the dog is a nice sport dog.  I wouldn't use him in my program because I don't think he is powerful enough (for my taste) but he is a nice dog for the sport, nothign wrong with that.  That is my opinion about that dog.   As for T, I don't care much for him and have many reasons - none of which I would post publicly on any website, but would be  happy to explain in private if anyone is interested.

my computer has been down for a couple days so i missed the whole ip addy thing......

there def. was something wrong with the ip addy's..cause i am only me(and boss)....every GSD site i am part of, i have the same user name...i have also had my myspace page posted on here....

if the IP addy was visiable when someone posted,i dont see how my could have been on here to compare numbers to anyway, since my computer has been down since tue. night..i have'nt been on here to post anything since then...im not sure how it worked tho, did the IP's show up on old post?, or did the only show up on new ones?

anyway, all i can say is that it's just me here...hopefully no one holds this against me , thinking i am someone else, because obviously the IP' addys didnt work...

For a day or so the IPs appeared next to the user name for all posts (current and past) but they were removed after several folks expressed security concerns)  You can read the threads and see..........................I know you are consistent because I have seen you on several other forums (Boss gets around in that picture montage)

I'm happy that the ip addresses were posted if only for a short period of time and hope that it has opened up some people eyes to some of the  almost organized hate fests against certain people in the community.  Sadly so many of them seem to go back to one or two people which is frightening for the breed amd the sport.  I think a lot of people did a little detective work, and it's up to us if we are going to accept this kind of behavior or not.

Ironically no one has shown any indication that the person accused most of posting under aliases has actually done so.  And you know that that had to of been checked.  To add to the irony the person that constantly accused people of being an alias has been shown to post under  alias's  on several occasions.  The posts were consistant with the hate in the persons posts under their own name.

Maybe it is time for us to say "no" to the smear campaigns that occur on this board and let people know that it is not acceptable.   Maybe it is time that we show some self moderation, we ARE all adults, aren't we.  Maybe it's time we just take the board back from people that want to use it to further their own agendas.

And maybe, just maybe a few of us owe a few apologies for being taken in by the hate and the drama.

It seems clear to me that the IP addresses published here can not be used to identify posters with  mulitple screen names. LuvmyGSD is certainly not DoRight and some of the other matches seemed equally as bogus.

i think it has been proven that the IP addy thing did not work.....it was not accurate....

i hope no one holds any of that against anyone else, just because of the numbers.....i would have been supicious of it all myself untill i saw my own name up there, and I know i have only ONE name  and that i only get on here from one computer..(unless im visiting someone)....so there is no doubt in my mind that this experiment with the addy's did not work...im not even going to pay attention to the names that were posted as "matching" other names....im kinda glad that my name was posted as one of them, now i won't be one of the ones that are untrusting, doubting, and accusing people that do not deserve it, just because t i think i have "proof"...the "proof" is bogus....

but i do REALLY wish that we could identify people that have different names...i know i don't , and other people  do not like being messed with that way....if you wanna say something about someone say it,  it doesnt really matter, but atleast let it be known that YOU were the one who said it....what point does what you say prove, when you say it behind a fake screen name?.......i really don't like the fact that one person could be ganged up on by what LOOKS like lots of different people, when it can actually be only one person with their own personal sick agenda....making it seem like the story or lie is true because it makes it look like so many people are having the same problem with that person....and here are the rest of us thinking"wow, this must be true because so many different people are saying the same thing". i am not one that is picky about "what" is being said, but i do want to know who is saying it....pretty cowardly and childish, no different than talking behind someones back....

i have suggested before, so i will suggest again, maybe our names could somehow be linked to the dogs we own?...with most of us, our dogs already have number that are not repeted..(pedigree no)...if that number could somehow be made to only be useable by ONE screen name...can't those numbers also be checked against actual registeries to see if its a real number/dog/owner?

for example, if when i register on this site, i type in the info for oli, he gets my full name, my dogs full name, my dogs registery no, cant he check that against AKC records and make sure all of that is correct?...then have it set where no one could use the same info again to register, just like two different people cant use the same screen name?......therefore if someone tried to use someone else's dog and number to make a fake screen name, they couldnt do it because it had already been used once, they couldnt make up a fake dog to use either if he was able to check registration numbers and names against akc/ckc..etc...records...even hip score registeration #....the whole point is that these are numbers that weALREADY have, that are not repeated or changed like the IP addy's... yes it would prob have it's flaws like evrything else, but i do think it would help....

it would be nice if atleast the one's who ARE innocent could prove they are who they say they are, and that they DID not do what that little test made it look like they did.....i myself am a nobody in the dog world...im just a GSD owner....but i feel bad for anyone who is, this is people's lives that just got messed with here....some people on here know each other, go to the same clubs even....friends with each other....how many are getting bashed and blamed right now in their own personal lives, for something everyone "thinks" they said on this message board?....friendships, even marriages could be damaged from this...maybe that thought is a little extreme, but what if two different people with the same ip, really are TWO different people, but one is married, one is not,..the one who is not, might have at times been "flirty" or even vulga/ obviously trying to pick up or like someone of the oppisite (or the same in some cases) sex?...and the person who is married, who never did anything wrong, their spouse is also a member of this board, or browses through it sometimes, and they see all of this and it would make them think that their spouse has a different screen name they didnt even know about, it would make it look like they were cheating on them when the person REALLY did'nt do anything wrong.......

just so many ways this could be bad for people that don't deserve it......reputations and buisness's ruined......

hopefully something can be worked out.....
