The first change that should be made is for the Govt to stop providing high powered weapons, financing and support to the drug cartels and gangs such as has been done in the secret BATF operation Fast & Furious (which was exposed by heroic agents who refused to continue with the program--hat's off to these heroes!). Let's face reality, arming drug cartels and drug gangs poses a direct threat to the lives of American border Patrol, police and civilians. This is the biggest scandal at the BATF since Waco.
The existence and damage of this program cannot be denied since it has been well documented and already caused the murder of a fine, highly respected US Border Patrol Agent.

Preston,
Do you feel like the American people should rise up and over throw our government ? If you feel like the whole government is corrupt , who do you think should be executed ? Do you think threads like this help promote hope or hopelessness ? Since this thread started you could see people that use to be able to discuss opinion, now sounds like they hate each other. I like people on both sides of the fence on this. Jim and Max while disagreeing I respect both of their points of view. But some people just can't live without drama. And the drama they thrive on is hate. Is it any wonder the worlds in the shape it's in?

No, I advocate folks organizing politically and applying political pressure to remove corrupt leaders. Work to elect honest uncompromised politicians. Obey the Constitution and respect legitimate authority. But lobby and create a great deal of political pressure to drive corrupt politicians out and create change in current ineffective police tactics such as swat started by Darryl Gates in LA, he felt was necessary when the root cause was his toleration of intel linked govt drug trafficking (eg Freeway Ricky Ross).
I would like to see a Truth Commission set up on high level govt corruption, where agents, assets, police and officials are offered immunity and protection and major subpoenas are issued. Hundreds of such witnesses would gladly come forward, especially the older ones like myself who are sick of "human compromise ops", govt trafficking in illegal drugs, felony informants (even murderers) tolerated as long as they provide garbage info to obtain illegal warrants for political oppression and coverups. As Dr. Steve Pieczenik has stated on the public record more than once, these corrupt officials need to be charged, arrested and tried and the corruption will unravel in court. Consider the Iran Contra affair (drugs in for arms out exchange with the contras). "John Cathey" was convicted wiith others but got off on appeal on a pre-set intentional error by the federal prosecutors. I know the man who trained him and he said once the "suits" got hold of O. he was going to be used as a cutout (John's favorite phrase, "that man should take a long walk off a short dock"). Over a hundred officials should have gone to prison for long sentences for these crimes but public pressure waned and justice was NOT served. A truth commission could expose these crimes against the nation and the citizens and IMO stop them for the sake of our children and grandchildren. There is no statute of limitations on the govt/intel murders of JFK, MLK, RFK, Carnahan, Sen. John Tower, & Sen. Wellstone.
This public pressure has worked in at least one city regarding out of control swat teams. The mayor and city council applied pressure to the chief and militarized police swat raids for non-violent crimes and any misdemeanors were completely eliminated all swat procedure were modified and made more sensible and safe foer the public and police. And there are many instances such as watergate, iran-contra, ruby ridge, waco where public pressure and congressional hearings did limit the abuse and crimes of high ranking govt officials.

desert, I jumped in because folks imo were attacking the messenger(s) and not examining the actual issue of "swat team abuse" and tyranny against the innocent public and needless slaughter of pets. It is amazing to me how folks refused to discuss the true issues here, but just banter and attack with ad hominem attacks. Most of what I presented is ipso facto or res ipsa loquitor.
I presented increasing level of facts regarding govt and intel crimes in order to show that the militarization of the police specifically use of heavily armed militarized swat home invasion teams is a result of high crimes of govt super-elites such as illegal drug trafficking into the USA disguised as the legendary "controlled deliveries", or the secret programs to ttrain, finance and arm the drug cartels and drug gang such as in the recently leaked BATF illegal operation Fast & Furious (disclosed by heroic BATF agents who refuse to cooperate and were punished for objecting by corrupt BATF managers).
Right now there is an attempt to blame the whole secret plan on the current head of the BATF while not allowing him to testify, rather just trying to force him to resign and take all the blame for the secret program which resulted in at least one dead US Border Patrol. Apparently he is so far refusing to resign and could perhaps take this secret operation to several high level govt officials. If this happens such could easily destroy their careers forever (and should) and could easily get them indicted for major felonies including murder, accessory to murder, criminal negligence, RICO, misprision of a felony, and numerous federal firearms charges. I sincerely hope that this acting director is provided good protection from higher ups during this difficult time until he is allowed to testify. desert, am I hopeful? Yes, I have seen great progress due to the world wide Internet and alternative news services. Never before have so many illegal secret operations been leaked and so many corrupt officials and illegal programs by US Govt and intel and aplhabets been exposed publically. For the first time, whole libraries of documents (many official and declassified, some under foia) have been accessible by Internet. The major mass media is nearly bankrupt because the public no longer trusts it and is starting to see it as nothing more than govt issued daily propaganda and "talking points" based on scripted lies and distortions. That is why the alternative news is growing so fast: Drudge Report, Alex Jones, Press TV, Huffpost, Examiner, etc. and so many more I haven't listed here, including talk radio such as Alex Jones, Coast to Coast, etc. Putting one's head in the sand never helps, but getting involved politically and in one;'s community can help expose and stop corruption.
The criminal super-elites are now cornered in many ways and are being exposed more and more daily. They do fear exposure and mass societal reaction against their crimes. That is why IMO they are moving as fast as they can to institute an american gestapo eg homeland security and tsa in all public venues, and attempting to break the will of the American travelor, trying to transform them into good slaves "good slaves". That is the purpose of airport sexual gropes and illegal Xraying--no terrorists have been caught by TSA since their origin but they have harassed a lot of folks and abused their positions of authority. Some have been caught and prosecuted for rape, pedophilia, and theft, but many getting away with it.

That to me puts valitity to what you are saying. I was around and an adult when watergate, Iran-contra, Ruby ridge, and Waco took place. I do believe there is a shadow government at work. But just stating what most people already know, without some hope to be able to overcome it, does little but cause people to think our country is so far gone we are living in a helpless society, and that I don't believe. While in high school Viet Nam was going on, President Kennedy was killed, Race riots were going on all over the country, Kids turned away from their parents and parents turned away from their kids, college kids were being beat and killed, kids begin to unite and protest and it seemed like the whole future was turning into crap.
But while all this stuff was going on, The US was still home. The country was in a mess, but you always felt like it's "my" country. Anymore it seems like every one hates every body that doesn't believe what they believe. That whole mentality is nothing more than fear. People are afraid of what they feel like they have no control over. Why do you think the dog market is so good for property and personal protection dogs.
If fear takes over this country we might as well give it away. Knowing stuff is good, but without doing anything it is just information. Everyone has to start in their own front yard. Change what goes on in your front yard and then to your town. There was some drug dealers around my neighborhood and I about drove them nuts. They finally moved. I support our police depts, and police. Do they mess up occasionally ? they are human.

The nexus of current corruption is actually the same "secret team" identified by Col.
