Bazza, they just proved my last post on this thread.
Maybe the following sheds some more light:
So, what has psychological research told us about belief in conspiracy theories? Not much. Indeed, so far only a handful of studies have looked at the personality of conspiracy theory believers. This research has found that believers tend to be lacking in trust and higher in levels of anomie - the feeling that things are generally getting worse - when compared to people with low levels of conspiracy beliefs. However, these findings show correlation, not causation. On the one hand, it may indicate that people's conspiratorial beliefs are a result of their underlying lack of trust; people who see conspiracies behind everything are simply be projecting their own jaded view of the world onto events. Alternatively, lack of trust may follow from the perception of a conspiracy, reflecting a rational response to the reality of living in a world of conspiracy.

Psycholgy today is not respected. It is pop psychology at best. It has carried govt psyops and govt fluff for years just like popular science.
When the US Govt's official position that WTC7 fell by damage from the small fire in it, this is a conspiracy theory and one which can be easily debunked. Reason, the owner of WTC7 stated it was demoed because "there had been too much loss of life". BBC announced it had collapsed 20 minutes before it had, the script writer in MI6 suppiortying this 911 false flag operatiobn screwed up and forgot about daylight savings time (Duh!). This is a real problem because the authorities admitted it was demoed, but it takes at least two weeks of two technicians working full time to "wire up and charge" a building to demo it. And if it is being done covertly it takes much longer with maintenance teams working at night.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7c2euMMh3zc

And it is intreresting to note that WTC7 was the command center for NYC mayor Guliani's Fema emergency response which had been moved to the docks several days prior. WTC7 was a heavily fortified and reinforced building because it had several intel offices there and its security was high 24/7.
It's like any seasoned lawyer will tell you. If the facts are on your side, argue the facts. If the law is on your side argue the law. If neither, just argue and try to smear & discredit the witnesses. And that is what the typical response is by uninformed folks who have uncritically swallowed mass media dispensed govt propaganda rather than done their own detailed research on what really happened according to actual witnesses and facts available.

There are many criminal cases brought on the basis of conspiracy theories. The prosecution uses evidence to establish their occurence in court. Many ordinary police cases involve charges of conspiracy as a basis for indictment. Especially in RICO cases, whether civil or criminal.
You have the legal definition of conspiracy in federal statues, and for each state. Then you have the dictionary definition too.
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/conspiracy
When a case is prosecuted for a conspiracy, it is a theory until proven in court. When the US Govt says that the twin towers were brought down by an admitted cia asset Tim Osman aka Osama bin Laden of Saudi Arabia, this is their conspiracy theory. And it was never proven in any cvourt or in the 911 Commssion hearing either according to those who served on the commission that said the pentagon and CIA lied and stonewalled.http://members.iimetro.com.au/~hubbca/911_commission_report1.htm

Preston.
Please watch the links you post. I'm sorry but they are ridiculous. The link of Kerry is a joke. Obviously, I have given you way too much credit. I'm glad I looked at that one link of yours, it was worth the laugh.
Since youtube is not working out for you as a credible reference I suggest you try Wikipedia. So far the only post of yours with any worthwhile information is the one on how to clean a Dyson vacuum. That one wasn't bad. That is based on all of your posts that I have read.

Slamdunc, it is an issue of truth and not my posts. You attack the messenger but refuse to deal with the messages. You refuse to comment on the fact that six of the commissioners on the 911 Commission have gone on the record stating that their investigation was invalid because the pentagon, intel and Govt blocked their subpoenas. It was so bad that Max Cleland quite the commission in disgust. Why not argue with each of the experts listed below. As a police officer you should be concerned with evidence not mass media govt propaganda dispensed to cover up one of the greatest govt crimes in history in the USA. So far you have contributed nothing tothis line of posts other than criticize me and try to discredit me. The real issue is the evidence not me, the messenger.

Not easy to try and discredit Steve Pieczenik, MD, Ph.D. former asst secretary of state , spymaster, teacher of deep cover black ops and psychological warfare, long time DOD consultant, assisted Tom Clancy in his books as a key tradecraft source. But go ahead criticize him and show us all how he is wrong.

I'm freaking at just the mass of posts and links on the subject. Do I trust our Govt? NO, am I jaded? Yes. Yet I don't disbelieve everything I hear or read.
Sorry but if I was a SWAT officer and this guy had a rifle in his hands when we busted through the door, I'd have shot his ass too, right or wrong.
