Re unilateral HD:
The presence of lumbosacral transitional vertebral segment (LTV) when it is associated with asymetrical pelvic attachment (APA) may have a causative role in the development of HD, and unilateral HD. Not all dogs with LTV are displastic and some may get OFA certification, although the presence of LTV is noted on the certificate. A polygenic heritability of this abnormality (most common in Labs and GSDs) is strongly suspected. LTV does not cause HD in itself, but if it is associated with asymetrical pelvic attachment, resulting HD is more likely. It has also been shown experimentally that dogs with LTV are more suseptible than dog without to develop cauda equina syndrome.

Hi Mitch,
OFA will list failures only if the owner gives written permission on the application. You can also give them blanket permission to list all results of every dog you submit regardless of the consensus. I have seen one Am line GSD breeder do that until one of his AKC champions didn't pass, unilateral mild HD. That dog's results then disappeared from the OFA site and the dog is offered at stud. It would be a lot more beneficial to the breed overall to see all the results, but I can understand why some would not want to do that. Dog breeders have a way of taking things like that out of context and using it in a destructive way rather than usingf it as a learning tool.

Well and of course you absolutely 100% Correct !!! In my opinion if Breeders would not "Attack" each othe over things like a hip result, then it would be much easier to post all results... In the case where a dog failed and is being offered for stud, well that is not right, in my OP. But I guess to each his own, I mean I learned to check OFA results more carefully after not reading what I was looking at, I failed to double check the names on the OFA Cert I was looking at, and guess what that is my fault, a lesson learned so I view it as an overall good thing to have happened to "teach me a lesson" an expensive lesson but none the less one well learned.
So I just need to contact OFA in order for them to show the results then. I will try to do that soon ! I don't want anyone accusing me of hiding anything, which happens to be the case they accused me of hiding the results on those dogs with OFA, I looked on the site to see where I could have them posted then saw that most of the failing hip results were not available for viewing so thought they just did not post them. Now I get it, Thank You for letting me know about that. I appreciate it very much !! Will definately be taking care of that very soon.

Not a personal attack at all Craig Childers. Just exposing your rediculous thinking!
YOU have made it personal! Hers's back at ya..
Are you a radiologist? OH, maybe not as you did not even graduate from high school! Just how many exrays have you seen??? You only have access to a handful, so maybe 5? How many years of research have gone into your conclusion? How many dogs have been studied? How many litters have been studied? How many different dams and sires? How many generations? How many owners have you followed to see how the pups were being taken care of?
Not only that, YOU also attacked an innocent person who lost their dog to HD. Why? Due to your being so "nice"? Due to you being a certified radiologist? You have no grounds to make any accusations or assumptions. I hope the owner sees what you have said. Especially because he HAS done extensive research, unlike you. And what do you say about Indiana's brother Ice being dysplastic also?? Was he dropped too? Or maybe also abused by his owner?? Or hit by a car also?? lol
Guess everyone needs to know that the breedings you think you are making fun of have YOUR kennel name in the dam's pedigree! You know... the one you purchased a couple of years ago to make it look like you have all these years of experience! lol
Just so the record is straight, I have NEVER attacked anyone, other than you in a previous post! I have only defended myself against attacks. The facts stand in the archives.

I see that you don’t have a clue about any research I have done in the past or currently. As far as my education goes, you obviously know nothing.... Once again. I said, “JUST MY OPINION” I gave my opinion(s), and there was no attack at all against you and/or any other dog owner on this site. Also the fact is that I was not even talking to you. I have not said one word to you for several months until now, Since you continue to make your attacks personal against me for some unknown reason(s). if you have a problem with me, come to me and not the message boards. Or if it is personal issues you have with yourself maybe you should seek professional help. Also stop putting words in my mouth (go reread my OPINIONS again), and get your facts straight . This conversation is over. Have a wonderful day!!!!

Debbie,
I did ask for opinions. For the life of me I can't figure out which opinion offended you personally. This thing seems to definately be some next level stuff because I have read the posts about three times now and don't see it. As for the dogs listed on the links all I can say is this; if a dog can do SAR work in the Sonoran desert his breeder is to be commended. The lack of humidity, ground vegetation and shifting wind currents make it some of the most challenging terrain there is. I don't know whose dog that is, what it's hip rating is, where it rates with conformation. But, I now it's working ability if it's certified SAR in Phoenix.
And you're right, I asked about opinions. Of the topic not other posters. Life's too damn short for all this irritation back and forth.

Dawg.
I did not take offence at ANY opinions. I just pointed out MY opinion as harsh as it may have been, it was NOT a PERSONAL attack. Just pointing out some of the failures in that way of thinking.
What I take offence to is the directing to my site to make fun of 2 pet litters. THAT is personal and also the comments after the links ARE personal attacks.
Also the comments on Jante's Indiana and it being Jante's fault that the dog had HD. IS also a personal attack. From someone who knows NOTHING about exrays. Making those kind of statements should be left to the professionals. NOT wannabees.
Doesn't seem hard to figure out to me.

badpuppy,
I gave my opinion also.
Seems to me that YOU are the one who took offence and made it personal by attacking me.
So, you can dish it out and I can and should not respond in like kind???
I would rather do most anything thing else in the entire world than to speak to you or email you.
Consider this closed, but don't expect to get away with attacking me and not have it come right back at your sorry ....
