I've heard horror stories from people getting screwed here and over there; it really is a scary thing shopping for the right GSD when you are new just getting started. It's not like you go to a dealership and they are all the same just with a few added options, then you haggle on price. lol I recommend you put your trust in someone you personally know that knows what they're doing, knows what you want, need, can handle and then let that person direct you to people they've dealt with. When it comes to the older titled dogs I found I was getting a more fair price in Europe then what people in the USA were trying to bang me for. Could be because they thought "here comes another live sucker who's clueless, we can sell her anything and make it sound good", or they just really don't care if you buy from them or not. It takes awhile to meet the right people and you learn pretty quick who to stay clear of. GSD's do become a sickness lol especially if you already have an awesome dog in your home. It makes you want another just like it. I even get the itch for another now and again but I'm patient for the right time and right dog to come along. If I lived on a few acres my husband would REALLY be in trouble cause I'd have more GSD's than kids. lol Hey, they listen a hell of a lot better and they don't ask for money! lol

So true, they are like potato chips, you can not just have one!! Importing is so fun, It is like Xmas. You go to the airport to pick up your new friend and most of the time Santa gets you what you want, other times he was broke that year and your dissapointed. My experiance has been the good far out weighs the the 2 Xmas's where Santa left coal in my stocking.

Wow...lots of opinions! Thank you to all, and NO I am not going to buy her. I will find a pup here in the US. THAT alone is hard enough, just finding someone HERE when you are a newbie. I have done months of research though, and have done my share of lurking and learning on this website. I will probably have to post when I finally get my new baby-and yes Agar, they do listen a helluva lot better...LOL T

Tirzah07 You actually are doing a good job and apparently doing your homework BEFORE buying a dog. Smart shoppers will force ALL breeders to breed quality or they will not be making the sale.
