You call Elliot a monster, a mad man, take a close look at some of our world leaders sometime, look and the lives they take.
by beetree on 31 May 2014 - 18:05
Yes, there are plenty of world leaders that are and have been monsters. Not sure how that takes away "monster" for Elliot or Adam.
I am not going to play your game to turn this personally against me. Mindhunt already said she doesn't want the job of "monster determinator".
This is a discussion only, why would you take it otherwise? I know and accept my limitations well enough, thank you. I certainly understand more than you ever want to credit me for, lol, and frankly my opinion of myself carries a heck of lot more weight than your opinion of myself.
As our public places and institutions of learning increasingly become murdering fields, yes, I see why you are worried for the definition of "right to bear arms". Because you do recognize this can be redefined in time and it scares you. Well, good then, I would like to spread around the fright, why should I bear all that burden?

Two Moons - Interesting idea that you believe psychology can't advance in its understanding of human beings similarly to the way the understanding of animals, especially canids have advanced. Maybe you haven't heard of empirical research and what it requires to be called empirical. Wasn't that long ago compulsion training with harsh punishment was considered the gold standard of dog training. Just like research has shown those methods do not work because animals, especially dogs, have cognitive and emotional capabilities rivaling that of people. Research has shown the error of the old ways of ECT, lobotomy, and other horrific methods to "cure madness". True, some idiots in psychology and dog training have been either incapable or unwilling to adopt new research findings and integrate these into their practices.....
Or are you down on psychology because you are afraid we will find out your deepest darkest secrets ?
Having done a rotation in forensics, dealing with some of those facing incarceration or court for violent crimes, I am very pro handgun and CCW, those I assessed concerned me deeply with their lack of empathy for others, sense of entitlement to women's bodies, and/or strong malevelolent hatred of women. Much like Elliot.

Bee,
so now you want to redefine the constitution?
Your not alone that's for sure, many just like you seek just that.
Why do you think sandy hook was demolished?
The only thing that scares me is that there are so many of you out there.
It is very personal, but not towards you as an individual, rather towards all of your kind.
Mindhunt,
My deepest darkest secrets?
You wish........LOL
It has nothing to do with you either as an individual, but rather those who think they understand how to fix a broken mind when they can't even fix what's really at fault, our society and the true nature of man.
Hung up on symptoms but not the actual cause.
This is what professionals do, it's a job, to make a living, and they do very well at that, making money, not some higher calling to save mankind.
If they actually fixed anything right they would be out of a job, and that's never gonna happen.
So no, I have no respect for any profession, only a few individuals, because only a few deserve that respect, they earn it while the rest just ride on the shoulders of others.
It is true, a fact, that some men think less of women, this goes back to society, all the way back to the begining of time, also religion plays a major role in this attitude that somehow women are less.
Although Elliot made reference to women I do not believe that was where the problem lay.
I also do not believe he was born bad.
Psychology is advancing but still very much in the darkness along with so many other things man assumes to know about ourselves and the world around us.
Too much theory and not enough fact, little understanding and a great lack of common sense, a lot of thought but little practice.
There are many Elliots out there who could use some help right now, our society turns a blind eye and their back on them.
Fix that.

Moons,
I only want to prevent easy mass murders of innocents in our public places and institutions of learning. I don't think of it as redefining the constitution because this type of firepower was never in the founders concepts. Your rewording is just a rally call for your like minded thinkers.
I know why Sandy Hook Elementary was demolished. I actually foresaw that action on the day it happened. No surprise there.

by Two Moons on 01 June 2014 - 18:06
LOL...
No suprise here either.
Fire power and technology has nothing to do with what the founding fathers had in mind Bee, you still miss the concept.
How could one commit mass murder in private?
it's never been done before has it?
You have no idea how easy mass murder can be, simply because you havent payed attention.
You'll never be able to prevent anything, that's beyond your capabilities.
The only thing you will end up preventing is freedom itself.
Destroying the school was to destroy evidence pure and simple, you were led to believe it was for other reasons.

Two Moons,
There is much empirical evidence about talk therapy benefits and thankfully psychology is distancing itself from psychiatry and the prescription pad. Meds are not the answer. It is more about helping the person become healthy and integrating the past into the present in a manner that allows the person to decide how they want the past to affect the present. I'm helping my clients to understand they are not a prisoner of their past. Words are powerful, anyone who said sticks and stones crap about words doesn't understand the true power behind words. Words are things, they can be felt by the human spirit. The words we say to ourself are the most powerful and can keep one prisoner to one's past and from not only living, but thriving. Words that are negative keep people down, frightened, stunted, and unhealthy. I help clients to write their own story, to choose those words that help them become whole and happy. I help them understand how family and interpersonal relationships impact development of self. There is such power in one's story and it can be used for reaching one's true potential. That is what psychology is about...........

Mindhunt,
I agree with this post of yours in many ways, and perhaps you are good at what you do and make a difference, but many more are not good at what they do and cause more harm than good.
Others do great good without any formal training or education, no diploma, just a grasp on some of the most basic of human needs and weakness's.
I've met such people in the most unlikely places.
Your so correct, meds are not an answer to anything.

Moons,
These are powerful words: You have no idea what I can or can not do. Have a nice day.
I also think you are nuts with your conspiracy theories. Kind of disgusts me to the core.

by Two Moons on 02 June 2014 - 03:06
Bee,
yeah I remember how you lost it over Sandy Hook, the name calling and the foul hateful things you said to me.
You couldn't come up with powerful words if your life depended on it.
Unlike weaker people words do not scare me, I will not break down in tears, hide or turn and run, I won't need therapy or a support group, I don't need someone to hold my hand or make it all go away.
What was it you said about personal?
Water under the bridge.
