Oskar1,
I am in agreement with the need for a standard. Your point is well made. Personally I wish the standard was much higher then it is though. I want dogs that will really work and with Schutzhund dogs there is no gaurentee. It seems that the Standard has slipped over the years. I see natural sharpness and aloofness being bred out of good lines for the sake of politics and what the world thinks a dog should be. This is the saddest thing to me.
So if I get a chance to get what I would call a true working dog temperament I will jump on it, title or no title. Ideally the standard needs to be adjusted so one can have the confidence that a title does mean something. I have the same concerns that Haus and 4pack mentions. The title has to mean something or it's just a piece of paper. Being a person that respects policy , rules and regulations I empathize with your view.
Screw it, your in America just do whatever you want right. A few people said only you can decide what's best for your breeding program.... Who cares what others may say...
Right?
Best Regards,
Dennis
Actually I am not in America, haha, but the point is taken Dennis. Thanks to all for your replies and thoughts. I will write my own response when time permits.
Thanks 4pack for the bouncer services...we will reward u greatly...Its time for anyone with an attitude to go by by bye...dont answer any of them......Schutzhund is a sport and u can trail a pit bull, a schnauzer, or a mixed breed to do any legg of the sport....and the show ...well I dont know if the judges have come up with a KKl for a staffordshire or a schnauzer or a mix, but it doesnt mean they are breedable....nuf said....
Hello Olskool,hello Haus Simpkins,
first of all both of you are right, dogs trained to do the routineon the trainingfield will do just that. I have been a helper for many years, i bet i could scare away 9 out of ten dogs, outside of the trainingfield.
But this is not because they are less drivey dogs, thats what they have been trained for. Ok, i admit, there are dogs that dont have have it, but i would say it is not the majority. These dogs are trained to be nice outside of the field, and for crying out loud, that is good ! There are aprox. 18 000 -20 000 pups whelped in Germany alone, all hell would break loose if they were all trained to be civil aggressive ! And i do see it soo often that peopel bought a GSD, knowing nothing about the breed to beginn with, dont know nothing about training. If they now would have a too drivy dog......
My opinion is simple, if you have a fair idear of what you want to do with your dog, or what porpose it should serve and you train it properly, most likely you will get what you want.
Simpkins, i agree, it might just be routine, and for an routined handler not a big deal. So why not stick with the rules and just do it by the rules.
When a kid grows up on a farm, driving farm equipment all the time , you still do not want him to drive around in puplic without a proper driving license ! Stil i bet he coud drive.
Kind Regards

Hi Oskar
You Are Right i am nor saying i look for a vicious dog the dog has to have a good head on its shoulders which a lot of that does come in to play with socialization. if you keep dogs from other dogs you highten suspision of them in return drastically increase the chance of dog aggression the same is with people alike. I own an Incredible Anosch Adelmannsfelder lang nephew out of Aik the dog is the real deal i was working him in schutzhund for about the first six months and i was just holding the dog back i cater to a lot of high end people and deptartments looking for highly meticulously trained protection dogs and service dogs and working with a good dog that has it all prey civil and defense makes my job much easier i am a helper also but i dont work with clubs because of the politics but i enjoy getting hit either from a street dog or a schutzhund dog that has HEART!!!
Many PSDs do not have the nerves that we ask for in schtzd - they do not have the grips - do frontals - K9 officers do not care, just as long as dog bites - can be from nerves, fear aggression - so without schtz titles that show balance NO I would not breed dog just coz PSD. Besides most PDs do not buy dogs w/o clear hips and most PDs own the dogs not officers, and do not want dogs bred. Not all - most. Schzd is ideal set up to show abilities needed for PSD - Americans have no standards to follow for AKC. Oskar points out - it is no option in Germany - SV rules and ethics followed - more Am breders should learn from that

Good point, it would sure be scarry to see alot of the old civil dogs running around here. The U.S. is so advanced in Science, technology and most things, but we have got to be the dumbest Country on earth when it comes to dogs.
