Ladyfrost.....my sister tells me the fleas are bad in your area this year......You can be sure that if one animal has them it won't be long before the others get them.Omg Smile
I freaking hate fleas and ticks....if it were me....I'd give the whole bunch a bath and then have a chat with your bug guy.

Cats and mice, a flea's best friends.
If you get them in the house is a major pain in the ass.

Clc.....grrrrrreat!
just what i needed...LOL...

so I know STAR pills are great for fleas for dogs, but what about cats? obviously 3 month flea drops didn't work, shampoo didn't work, I am thinking my best option is to get another direct spray on and soak both cats....I never used flea dip  ( is there a specific product/brand?)....and i will get carpet spray....both cats are inside so it should be easy to control...(well one would think)...

I rented an infested house once, besides having to spray all bedding and furniture, the house had to be fogged.
You can get them off the cat or dog but they can live without a host and will return to it in time.
I use a kennel dip, Permethrin as the active ingredient, hard to find these days, the foggers came from my Vet.
Kill them all at the same time, on the animal and anywhere else they may be hiding, even out buildings or under houses.

It's a major pain seriously.

LadyFrost,,10 years I never saw hide/hair/tail of a flea and this this year the cats had them pretty bad..Our 6 indoor cats spend most of their time in the basement,,~~~a new home, finished, lots of natural light, clean and decorated with lots of kitty furniture. I cant let them have the run of the house 24/7 it's too much. They get upstairs time when I can keep an eye on the little rascals,,I add this because I don't want anyone envisioning 6 cats shoved in a dark damp basement ..Its not like that at all..

Now back to the fleas,,Never had them in ten years and found them during normal grooming about 3 or 4 months ago!!! What a night mare!!..Prince ended up scratching himself to a bacterial infection erupted and 60 days of antibiotic!!..I used enough diatomaceous earth to sink a ship,,I vacuumed daily, as I said above, this basement is spotless..I can not understand where a flea could hide..I HATE using chemicals!!,,but I finally had to and gave all the kitties a product called Easy Spot per veterinarians reccomendation..It is a topical applied between the shoulder blades that kills fleas for a month..Also I used a spray called Knockout by Virbac for the basement and all their furniture...I have sprayed the basement twice in the last 3 to 4 months and have treated the cats every 6 weeks..The Easy Spot cost me $80 for all 6 cats and the Virbac cans are $20 each...So far it has worked ..Not to say that there aren't a few lurkers somewhere..

BTW out outdoor cats have zero fleas..Go figure!!..

Also, Mindassan lol,,what about me makes me such an unlikely candidate for running a cat house??,,lol,,,just wondering,,:) :)

Clc ,,,Cat food!!,,Yes and lots of it!!,,I have been feeding them Merricks and Earthborn..It costs about $70 every three weeks or so give or take..We have been very fortunate that our kitties stay healthy so far..Unfortunatly they are all very close in age and when things go down it's gonna be ugly..:( :(

ErinJ..funny clip..:)  and thanks for the post..:)

I make my own wipe and spray, using this Permethrin. I have over 35 dogs, and not one fly, tick or flea is ever on them. I spray it on myself, and not a fly lands on me, when I'm with the dogs, or doing work outside. Permethrin is harmless to most mammals, like humans and dogs, but, Permethrin,  is highly Toxic to Cats.
