One important factor in awarding VA is bloodlines.
If a bloodline is over represented, a dog normally VA dog may go V1 - V10..
If a bloodline is under represented, a V1 - 10 dog may be placed in the VA group. This is to ensure that various blood lines do not go extinct.
Also one or two VA's may be awarded to slightly lesser dogs that have working abilities above all the rest, and is still excellent in conformation.
Creating VA's is a tool to supposedly improve the breed (don't need comments on this comment - yes I know other's opinions).

It is all speculation now because there will be no placings of the VA dogs. They will be announced in catalog order. Will be interesting!

I suppose we could all guess at which dogs will make
the VA 'cut', rather than be V graded ? Has anyone
heard if the 'V's will still be rated in numerical order after
that, or will they all be " V-by-catalogue-number" also ?

Looks like the other rings will stay the same; this just affected the VA dogs.
A nicer change is the implementation of the Wertmessziffern for the TSB testing. Reminds me of the old east german one; at least to a part.
