These insensitive statements about Sharpton and other black Americans including our President could be offensive to some of our African American members. The Reverend Al and Obama could very well be considered heros and trailblazers by some here. Until we've walked in their shoes.................it might be time to let that part of this thread die?

I don't have a problem with Zim suspecting TM of being a burglar. I don't have an issue with Zim calling the cops. I have an issue with everything that Zim did after that. I don't care about what he had a right to do. I care about what the exercising of such rights led to.
He wasn't qualified to act as an armed security guard and that is why TM is dead.
I don't think the outcome broke a law. But I think gross negligence occurred and Zim and the homeowner's association will get sued.
I think the race issue is really about how the police treated the incident. I think the cops coached Zimmerman - maybe they would have coached Zimmerman even if TM had been white.
The reason some people are angry is because of the perception that blacks can't get justice in some parts of the country. So I have no problem with people like Sharpton and Jackson exploiting this case to further the cause of Justice for Blacks. I have no problem with people using TMs death for political purposes if it results in fewer young kids accidentally getting killed.
As far as Zim goes - he's a POS. While he had a right to approach TM, he shouldn't have acted like an armed security guard. No one with training would have done what he did. He should thank his lucky stars that he isn't dead. He could have pulled his gun, Martin could have grabbed it, they could have wrestled for it, with Zim getting shot - and TM would have been not guilty of murder.
In my mind, what's totally fucked is that here's a situation where either person could have killed the other, and no law would have been broken. (TM could have claimed that he punched Zim in the nose when Zim grabbed him. The punch cause Zim to fall to the ground, hitting his head on the cement. When Zim hit the ground, TM saw Zim's gun, saw Zim go for it, and dove on top of him to prevent him from pulling the gun - prove it didn't happen that way except that Zim was able to pull his gun and shot TM).
If only Zim had a trained Mali none of this happens. I'm betting that when everything is said and done, Zim is going to wish he had spent the money on a trained Mali instead of on lawyer's fees.

Lots of thoughtful posts, lots of statements I agree with....especially that Zimmerman is a POS! Plenty of room for improvement as far as race relations & violence & justice in this country!
But whether a dog is better than a gun.....?
No question in my mind, a dog IS better than a gun for more reasons than I care to mention.
But if you value your dog, I wouldn't give it to Z-man! Also for multiple reasons. jackie harris

Thank you all who replied to my comments, I respect and value your thoughts and opinion, I still believe more guns more possibility for killings. In modern society security, crime fighting is the duty of Police. I personally wouldn't agree that my neighbor carries a gun in his home, if he does I would inform the Police immediately.
I see some here say openly they own guns, in my country if you confess owning a gun, government will take it away from you and you go to jail, things are different, stands are different, after all to each his way, I don't think I would be happy living in the States knowing so many people have GUNS, that is scary.

You knew this was going to trial when the revs of hate (al and Jessie ) and the messiah got involved.
Supprisingly the jury concluded just what the police did the GZ was guilty of no crime.
Clearly most of you that have posted here about the GZ trial did not follow it not have listened to the GZ police call in its entirety. Maybe because this happened within 30 miles or so of my house I have followed this more closely than others. Here are a few facts the main stream media and the "Revs of hate" have failed to share with you
1. The police dispatcher on the phone with GZ questions like where is he now what is he doing now etc etc etc. as the police got close they told him he didn't need to follow anymore and he said ok and went back towards his vehicle
2. At one point TM was 300 feet from his house but instead of going in he chose to go back to where GZ was walking back to his vehicle and punch him about 600 feet from his vehicle (thank the GPS installed in everyone's phones for this data).
3. GZ got the police chief fired because his son beat up a homeless black man and was not charged so now as suggested above the police did not coach him

I happen to respect our president. I think he is a brave and smart man, though I disagree with him on a lot. I don't however find Al Sharpton to be anything more than a blowhard, same as Rush Limbaugh and the rest of the talking heads that spew garbage all day long.
