This dog needs to be rescued from this crazy creature, pronto.  She already got its body altered and the dog is barely a year old.  Now she is probably creating a charade of HD to try and collect from the breeder.

Hexe, I don't think there is anything that Jenni stated above that merited that abusive personal attack from you. Cool off.Sad Smile

by Blitzen on 30 December 2012 - 03:12

It looks like an Invisible Fence receiver on her collar.

Star11 - you have a pm.

by troopscott on 30 December 2012 - 04:12

You know Jeni after the stuff you posted and your actions in relation to the thread "the truth shall prevail". I don't think you have earned the right to call anyone crazy or psycho or anything else. Your opinions are probably best kept to yourself when that is what you want to post rather than useful information. Just sayin

Lets keep this about the dog and the unimaginable pain and suffering it is going thru. Ya'lls hatred should be directed towards the person that is making this animal suffer to further their own agenda.

by hexe on 30 December 2012 - 06:12

How the hell did we go from the dog being x-rayed and spayed, and the owner convincing herself that the dog's hips were bad and euthanasia might be warranted, to
"...unimaginable pain and suffering it is going through"?  Where, pray tell, WHERE has there been ANYTHING indicating that this dog is being subjected to pain and suffering???

Having the dog spayed at a year of age does NOT fall into anyone's definition of abuse or neglect, regardless of whether you favor waiting until the dog is older before such a surgery--so let's not exaggerate as to what's going on, shall we?  For that matter, the euthanasia of a perfectly healthy young dog isn't abusive or neglectful, either--every day, across this country, perfectly healthy young dogs are put down because nobody wanted them, and the space was needed for more dogs that somebody else didn't want.  For the owner of this dog to be considering putting her down is WRONG, yes, but it falls far from meeting the criteria of abuse, neglect or cruelty. It's morally wrong, but it's also perfectly legal and within the owner's right to do so if she chooses.

I'm concerned about the dog as well, but not to the exclusion of the well-being of the woman who owns the dog, nor her family.

Quite simply, Jenni, your comment was NASTY and MEAN, and absolutely uncalled for and off-base. So yeah, YOU can be a bitch sometimes.  As for me, I've never denied or tried to pretend otherwise--I can, and often am, a bitch, as circumstances warrant.

To have mocked the idea of a woman stumbling under the stress of having all the responsibilities that comes with having children and a deployed spouse is beyond insensitive--and it's precisely that mind-set which shames some of these women into trying to pretend they're handling everything with aplomb, while they redirect their cry for help through a pet or family member, because they aren't supposed to burden their spouse with troubles from home, and they aren't supposed to let the military staff know that they're having trouble, either.

We don't know if that's the case with this person or not--but given the limited info we have been privy to so far, it is a distinct possibility , and something that needs to be considered in any effort to preserve the life of this dog.  A emotionally healthy person does not convince themselves that their dog has a crippling condition that does not appear to exist, based on radiographic evidence provided so far, nor do they speak of having that dog euthanized for that imagined problem--and that this dog owner's revelation to the OP came virtually out of the blue, immediately after the Christmas holiday and with a long time lapse between their last contact and this one fits the profile for a person in crisis.  Just getting this dog out of the owner's hands is not going to be the end of the story--she can just go and get another dog, and play out the scenario again and again, unless some acknowledgement of the real core of the problem is achieved...so it's not as simple as just getting the dog.

Bottomline, this woman should never have gotten her dirty, grubby paws on this dog, which does look like a well-bred one.  Spaying by itself may not be shocking to several folks, but in this particular case, right after the x-ray of the dog and after asserting that it walked funny ?  I think the spaying was directly related to some kind of a wild over-reaction over god-knows-what and it was the dog that bore the brunt of it.  Euthanizing ?  Of the only pet the home has known, just because it "walked funny" ?  Now it does meet my definition of totally and raving mad ("crying for help" and taking it out on the hapless creature in one's care or not) who should have the dog taken away - voluntarily or otherwise, and publicize the situation so that such creatures don't get hold of other hapless dogs on whom they can play out their personal problems.
