Jenni78

 Her or me, Shelley? LOL

Reading these last night and reading over some I sent to Betty I think I must've been on something to not check into her immediately. I was preoccupied w/a premie and I thought she was just some lonely person who was taking care of her sick mother, so she was stuck in the house and had no one to talk to. I feel horrible.

I think I can at least send information on who the dogs are and some background (who they've been sold to/traded with, etc.) which maybe will help the evaluators/rescue. I think these dogs should get some special considerations due to bloodline-typical temperament and circumstances. My big fear is that none/few will be deemed salvageable and they will never get to know a life a dog deserves.

HUGE THANK YOU TO BETTY FOR READING THAT DRIVEL TO HELP OUT W/THIS.

Ha ha ha Jenni.

I hate to point the finger at anyone I don't even know, but everything about this story, from the wild-eyed photo to the e-mails and pm's ya'll are describing, to the condition of the property and mom's sad, neglected state points to long-term drug use.

No, not necessarily drug use.  Not by a long shot.

Have to agree with animules. I see people every day who look like this...that's what I get for working with the public. It's impossible to tell if they're on drugs, having a manic episode, are OFF their drugs for schizophrenia, or are just creepy evil animal hoarders (my guess) who would rather spend all their time writing posts than providing a basic level of care for those who depend on them.

I would not think drugs based on what I've seen over the years. I, like most others who have seen first hand her type of behavior before (hoarding, failure to accept responsibility, abuse, blaming, rambling, etc.) believe she is very mentally disturbed and incurably so. She is also a very persuasive person and extremely adept at manipulating others.

Janice Bartmess is a highly intelligent individual. She has written several articles on bloodlines, the DDR dogs, their development, genetics and I think she has also published a book on that subject. She contacted various colleges, professors, researchers, etc over the years searching for information on the dogs, the lines and people involved in the breeding programs. She also contacted people about AI supplies, methods, etc. She doesn't just know how to do AI, she understands the science behind it.

Reading her articles, there is almost a fanaticism over the DDR Meisterschaft system and the efforts made to stamp out hip dysplasia. Her conviction of the "supremacy" of the DDR bloodlines over all others and insistence that those lines be preserved at all cost paints an horrific picture for the dogs she managed to acquire over the years. While I am not making a comparison, I will say I was instantly reminded of Hitler's early visions of a master race when reading Janice's words regarding the breeding plan she envisioned. Add her wild fanatical ramblings regarding the AR groups such as HSUS and how they spied, conspired against her and tormented her and her mental instability becomes even more clear.

Looking at those eyes and knowing how intelligent Janice is, I don't see drug use. I see charming, twisted psychopaths such as Ted Bundy and Charles Manson. While the nature of the crimes certainly can't be compared, I'd be willing to bet the nature of the psychosis is the same.

Excellent analysis! But the prognosis might be brighter if my suggestion were the case.

My first thought when I saw her pic was Manson Family.

But "knowing" her a little bit from emails, I am convinced that she believes her own stories. In her mind, she is truly running a non-profit program. Her stories never ever change, as they would w/someone who was lying. She is sincere...sincerely crazy, but sincere. She is overall, quite delusional. She is very sensitive- she can be quite rude and then if ignored, gets her feelings hurt like a child and apologizes and tries to "make friends" again.  I'm not convinced that she is aware of her actions the same way someone sane is, and is that manipulative; I think she may just simply be that sick.

I think at one time she may have been sort of sane, as I don't see how she could've managed the career she had otherwise,  and between the loss of her daughter and other sad circumstances, kind of "went off the rails" so to speak. I see much of the same behavior on episodes of Animal Hoarders or Hoarders- sick animals, obvious to everyone else, but the owner/hoarder is oblivious and they rationalize when called onto the carpet. Every one of them is trying to fill some kind of void, not at all unlike Janice.

Still, regardless of WHY or WHAT makes her the way she is, the end result is the same tragedy; innocents suffer in her hands and she has to be forced to take responsibility for that and NEVER be in a situation again which allow for a repeat.

Great post Jenn.

I didn't realize she lost her daughter.  A very sad situation all around.

I can't fathom why her hubby didn't take more responsibility and stop what was going on.  He is just as guilty and maybe just as sick.

Didn't she say on here at one point that he wasn't "all there" or something? Did something happen to him maybe or am I mixing that up w/something else?  I just remember us all freaking out on her for saying he was supposed to be responsible for everything. He wasn't doing it, so she should've ...but I swear there was more to it than that. Maybe not. My head is starting to spin. I've about had my fill of Janice between this forum and combing through emails looking for helpful info.

I think I'm about done w/the Bart-MESS.
