penny.
shame to report i was right then the chap in the ring talking to judge for 20 mins was Ron Drooge from germany breeders of the winner. Perhaps he was asking the German judge for a lift home lol !
Can't you see how it taints the winner even though it deserved to win ?

Hi Mo

I have just read your post properly, thank you for your lovely comments about Bine, it's funny really, cos 2 weeks ago I was huffing and puffing to Andy about whether she would be in good enough condition !!! When the coat comes back it sure comes back fast !  It was an amazing day, one that I know we all dream off , I will re-live it for ever;-))))

by Penny on 16 June 2010 - 23:06

Keep re-living it Sue, those moments are for cherishing when your dog goes in and looks that astounding.  Very well done, Mo.

must admit i found the judging in both dogs and bitches to be very honest.it was obvious to me on Sat.that they were putting up wot they liked and interestingly not always the top winners at the mo.no disrespect to anyones animals.it made a refreshing change and kept me wondering who was going to be in the top spot.sue i,ve always liked Bine and have wondered on many occasions ,why she hadnt won.i,m really pleased for yu and wot a show to do it at.Here,s to the next two.its a wonderful feeling.i had the same feeling at Crufts in 2007 when Chiki won her first ticket.could just not believe it.good luck for your next shows Carole S.

Hi guys, firstly I would like to say that IF I had seen him in the ring I would have thrown him out. I cant understand why I missed him at that point, but I would like to state that WHEN I saw people in the ring for no good reason I asked them to leave. Most were ok, but one or two were very rude and abusive. Amongst the comments were " You have given up your tickets so why do you care"? " I am not bothered what other people think"! " You are picking on me so f*** off ". This is from people in the ring.
A couple of times we had have you got the bib for XXX, not his number. A couple of times we had people conversing with the judge in German. EVERTIME I told the people that they were out of order and to stop it. Now that is what YOU did,nt see.
What I did on a couple of occasions was to ask the people to leave the ring by name on the mike. I remember saying that XXX was spending more time in the ring than the judge.

So sorry about the breeder/owner of Xaro because if I had seen him I would have asked him to leave. One thing I would have done would have been to ask him to share HIS thoughts with the entire show. Name and shame at its best.

IF there is a next time AND I am involved please come and tell me, as one lady did, hopefully I dealt with matters for her in the manner she would expect.

Thanks

To set the record straight, the person in question was asked to leave the ring, by me, I didn't ask immediately , as was the case with the other 100 or so other people over the weekend who decided to have a chat with the judge whilst waiting on dogs, bibs  etc. or at the ring side.  May I also say the person in question did so in a very polite manner as soon as was asked.

Why do you think the show had such a good atmosphere, I believe because the organisers were mostly fair and sensible to all, at the same time keeping the show running well and enjoyable.

Imagine if we took the absolute dictatorial role that some shows over the years have been know for, the show would have been completely spoilt and the morale of the exhibitors deflated.

Exhibitors and spectators should realise that most good Judges (particularly German Judges) have excellent memory recall with any of the dogs who have done well in Germany and/or been seen before in the country they are judging in. So, they do not need to have the owners/breeders of these dogs to speak to them just before their class to recognise them. In fact it is an insult to the judge to assume they do.

Most people have stated both on here and to the committee personally that they felt the judging at this show was both fair and honest and so hopefully that is how it will go down in history.

Thank you to the Judges and all who entered and vistied the show, you made the committee's very hard work all worth while.

Brigid Fahy Newlands (Dog Ring Steward)

This is just what we have to be mindful of and stamp out together......

It sounds like it is starting to happen ! ! ! !  The above two posts show that exhibitors didnt behave in the manner that they should.   Foul mouthing people that are doing a sterling job as volunteers will cause those people not to be there to get insulted the second time, then you will get lesser people taking on the job, and we will all sink into the marl pit.

As I have stated on various posts, I believe the winners and placings to be honest and excellent, but the behaviour that Steve and Brigid has had to describe is just feeding the K.C, facts that they wish to have, to substantiate their opinion that GSD folk are louts that cant run their own ship.

Every exhibitor there at the 2 day should have been mindful of the fact that responsible people in our breed are making a great job of getting for us, an excellent ex KC set of shows running..... foul them, and you foul the whole GSD scene, and put us back years... and also give the KC something to gloat about.

Grow up to all those who insulted the stewards - and while you are growing up, think of the hours these people put in of their own time, so that you could be in that ring insulting them as you did.

Steve - Brigid - accept my apologies from myself and all the others that I know will feel like I do.

Mo. Mascani.

One possible answer is to advise people in the schedule that this show/event has a Name and Shame policy and any bad behaviour or language towards ring stewards, judges and officials will result in the offender's name being publicised on PDB!!! .
