you're taking much criticism here and that's too bad. I agree with you: a good dog, a GREAT dog, died far too young–as have other great dogs. We all empathize with people who've lost their companions, it's a terrible thing and their passing leaves a huge hole in our lives. The passing of time helps us deal with the loss but we're never really the same again. They take a part of us with them when they leave.

Still, we wonder. Why did our dogs, or this dog, die so young? Yes, maybe it was bloat and torsion. Most likely, it was because the age is right. My dog's sire died at that age of GVD and believe me, as my dog approaches that age, I worry!

Heart disease–a friend's puppy died at 10 months, another friend's dog died at 18 months of heart disease. How awful, to have spent a normal day like all others, playing, training, hanging out and then to see your dog fall down dead, or find her dead in her crate.

I don't know what you can hope to accomplish by building a database of causes of death but I do think that your intentions are good. Your post does not at all take away from the tragedy of Zamp's passing. You mourn him just as many of us do and I'm sure you share the family's pain. It's a shame that you're being so misunderstood here.

To the owner of Zamp v Thermodos my condolences to you and your family.

My Vet was telling me she is seeing more and more cancer at a younger age. My male , who just turned 4 yrs. old, had his yearly check-up, and he is well. His littermate,  a sister, was diagnosed with Lymphoma. I have heard that she is doing very well! (She had chemo treatment, and is now clear.)
THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES in life, be it HUMAN OR ANIMAL! Some live to a ripe old age, and some are taken from this earth at a young age.

I'm sure the family loved their dog. With that said it is a showlines and shouldn't be talked about genetically as a GSD. Breeding showlines is the single WORST thing that has ever happened to such a great breed. I don't consider showlines GSD's and the breeders should be ashamed. I also understand the love people have for their dogs so condolences to the family on the loss of their pet.

My heart goes out to Zamp`s family too.  He was a beautiful dog, and it`s a shame when they go so young.
I lost my male @ age 7 to GDV and it ripped my heart out,   yet I also had a girl,  crippled with HD from age 3 with accompanying Epilepsy,  who also needed an emergency spay due to Pyo.,  yet she lived till 16 yrs old.    Mammary tumours then took her from me.
Neither were bred from.
I`ve also lost an 8 wk old pup due to an adverse reaction to the needles.
Nature does what it does when the time comes.   Be it 4 legged or 2 legged,  but every pet owner deserves a little bit of compassion in these sad times.

I don't think anybody cares what you consider a GSD or not. Trolls like you need to refrain from posting and antagonizing people like Zamp's owners any further. Your writings are downright despicable!
When I look at your posts, none of them are of any value!
Please crawl back into the hole you came from! And do us a favor and find a different breed!

Why is it people have to visciously attack one another?
People with different views are being slaughtered here.

Let everyone have his/her own opinion and express that, and let us just share those opinions and talk about them, without war.
If you do not agree with what is being asked or with peoples' views expressed here, you can just stay away from the tread alltogether an read other ones.

So back to my question:

please keep informing us about diseases, causes of death, etc.
We need to bundle this and learn from it.

Du solltest Dich hier wirklich schaemen!! War das nicht auch der Name Deiner Tochter, oder taeusche ich mich da? Ich habe keine Lust mich hier zu streiten, das bringt eh nichts. Es bringt mich aber auf die Palme, wenn so ein Hund durch den Schmutz gezogen wird. Warte doch einfach ein paar Wochen und fange dann ein ganz neutrales Thema an wie ungefaehr "Werden unsere Hunde immer anfaelliger auf Krankheiten und haben eine kuerzere Lebensdauer?" Dann kannst Du auch Namen erwaehnen, aber nicht jetzt. Oder macht es Dir Freude soviel Feinde wie moeglich zu machen? Ich attackiere Dich bestimmt nicht, das weisst Du. Dies ist nur meine Meinung! Friede!!!

you are a fool, not really worth responding to since you have nothing of note to contribute anywhere except that showlines are s... (to quote you). Can't categorize me? My, that is too bad isn't it? I might be in an identity crisis, who knows?
But I can tell you that much: Where is s... anywhere, just as there are good ones to - in all lines, working, show, American, GDR, Czech, etc.
Unless you can tell here what dogs you have and what you have accomplished, you need to shut up. Anybody can register with a generic email and act like a troll!

Must of touched a nerve. I'm just stating an opinion about showlines. They have almost ruined the breed. If you don't like my opinion don't read my posts, simple really. I looked at your site and ............showlines! LOL
