Red Sable

I hate to call people idiots just because they lack experience and knowledge.

Yes, it would be best if we never had to mess up, but we seem to learn the best lessons from our screw ups.  Human nature.

The German Shepherd is supposed to be a protective working dog. Everyone should not OWN one...if people don't have the time to deal with this type of dog they shouldn't get one. BUT everyone shouldn't BREED them either....and you have people breeding their priorities into the breed based on their insecurities and desire to alter the breed so THEY can manage them. Its pitiful, IMO.

EXACTLY!!! Let's water them down so any moron can handle them ! <bleeeeccchhh, gag, puke>

I think it's a bit of a vicious cycle; people see incorrect temperament and think it's correct for a GSD to behave like a Golden Retriever, so they go out and think they want a GSD, then it turns into a GSD, and they give it up for being too aggressive. Then they go and get another incorrect one to replace the likely very correct one they just dumped, and the cycle continues and the weak-ass greedy breeders gain momentum.

I'm way over-simplifying.

No, you are not Jenni,  this is so true...

Sadly, it is true, but there's more to it. We live in a very irresponsible society who views just about anything as expendable.

A good way to screen out any potential buyer is to show them the video I posted earlier.  You'll have your answer within 15 seconds.  So the next soccor mom that pulls up in an Escalde with 3 kids wanting to buy a GSD will have a very clear representation of what they are dealing with.  But I'm not sure you'll see that.  You see the quite opposite - you see ad's with kids sitting around a schh3 dog who is obviously focused on the handler who's out of the picture and not the kids smiling next to the dog - somewhat misleading.

Turk, that dog reminds me of my Mother-in-laws old Pembroke Corgi, he wouldn't touch any food until someone tried to take it away. He also greeted everyone as if they were his long lost friend and just as they were starting to feel comfortable he would go in for the kill.  *The nastiest dog I have ever known.*
