I was told by my insurance company,  putting up a warning sign other than "Dogs live here" or something else non-threatening,  could cause me to lose my insurance coverage,  if something happened,  as it is admitting to the "vicious dog" thing...I have an employee's only sign on the entry gate to my kennels.. Just a thought...Lida

The whole issue of protecting property, and defending yourself seems sometimes to be in favour of the Criminal intent.  The law gives the impression of overly protecting those who break the law.  In fact we sometimes hear of the Criminal suing the Victim!

By warning that Guarding Dogs are on the property and WILL guard if necessary, this surely is giving very strong and 'helpful' advice to someone considering trespassing!  (However, we already know the legal system does not see it this way).

I think I would like a Sign that reads:

This is a Warning NOT a Threat - YOU are the THREAT if you proceed onto my property uninvited.  Therefore, myself, family and dogs will take action to protect our safety if you have not asked permission to enter.  May I politely remind you that you are UN-INVITED unless you have personally spoken to me.  THANK YOU for not Trespassing.

Vixen would you give me  permission to make a sign like that?

Of course Prager, more than welcome.  (I thought it covered the necessary valid points - clearly putting the responsibility on the potential Trespasser).

I dont put signs in my yard.  I keep about 6 to 10 newspapers on my driveway hoping someone will think we're on vacation.
