The word bugger used by Englishmen is not meant in the sense you view the word, It is just a slang way of expressing something, sometimes of annoyance and sometimes as in the case of Max as amusement
Of course i guess i am thinking Max is much younger than i am, i may be wrong, if so it would be 'You old Bugger'
