I wonder how many mouth runners have ever had their hands on, for training, any Titan progeny or any Mittwest dog, for that matter. I have. Many times. I agree with Jen and Keith.

Deanna, the "information you provide on this board" not only enabled FHTracker to put in his two cents, it also enabled you to get some sound advice about what sort of training Prince and, more importantly, you needed.

And unlike trolls with paper-thin egos who continually cause trouble, you seem to be perfectly able to dismiss the few barbs tossed your way and to separate that from the people who want to help.

And BTW, he's a very nice-looking dog.  Shoulder could be a little less open and the lay of the croup could be a little flatter.  And as Preston noted he's a little cow-hocked at this point in time, but these days you'd be hard-pressed to find many German showline dogs that don't have the first two issues and likely some more.

One good thing about this forum is the view and the opposite view, the posting is civilized so far and FHTracker has the right to say what he thinks like anyone else, Deanna did not make a mistake in asking for help regarding her puppy, I am sure she benefitted from replies she got, being honest about one's puppy is not a bad thing. Just my opinion with due respect to all.

Fh tracker, do you own a GSD that is close to the standard physically and mentally?  Do you even know what such a GSD is?  How ell do you know structure, movement and correct working temperament?  More than occasionally folks who make posts like you own long string beaned WL gsds that look like cayotes and really just don't know what proper conformation to the standard is.  And the standrad involves the whole GSD, structure, movement, and temperament.  Tell us that you are very knowledgeable about the standard ans hsow us a photo of your best GSD according to the standrad.  If it is close, then I'll admit you could have some credibility.

This line of posts shows two things:  best for a novice not to be too open with normal issues that develop raising a GSD from puppyhood;  and there appear to be cantankerous appearing individuals that will take any oopportunity to try to hurt and discourage novices who want to do a good job raising their GSD.

Ibrahim,,,You are right, FHTracker can say whatever he/she wants....However, FHTracker has a habit of miss quoting and misinterpreting what is written in my postings ....FHTracker has some very valid concerns and opinions, about the importance of our GSD"s having a beautiful character to match their beautiful looks.....In spite of FHTracker's nasty attitude, I think he/she means well.........

I respect you big heart.

When it comes to temperament then the issue here for any of us, including FHTracker, is that we are relying on Deanna's descriptions and perceptions to formulate opinions without having an opportunity to actually see for ourselves.

Take for example her description of Prince growling at the little kid.  Do any of us, including Deanna, really know what the dog was growling at?  Could he have been not paying attention to the little kid at all but rather responding to a dog barking up the street that Deanna could not hear?  Was there a weird reflection off something in the house that caught him by surprise to elicit the growl?  The answer is, no one knows.

And that's not a knock on Deanna, at all.  She is simply someone who has acknowledged her inexperience. In that regard we too should be careful about jumping to too many conclusions, other than stating the obvious: she does need to learn how to be the boss, which I believe she is in the process of addressing through finding an appropriate trainer.  And at this point, that's all anyone can ask of her in terms of trying to be a responsible dog owner.
