actually both colts "scored" the same. In the GOV inspections there is not an actual score given - though there are scores given in many of the warmblood inspections - GOV is not one of them. They give 1st Premium award, 2nd Premium award and so on. Two years ago getting a "Stallion Prospect" award was the top honor you could get - Deko was given that award. Last year they started giving the "Foal of Distinction" award so they could honor both the top colt and the top filly instead of just the top colt. Symmetrie received this award. So in actuality, both colts received the same "score" - 1st Premium and the honor of getting Stallion Prospect/Foal of distinction awards in their inspections.
To answer someone's question - yes the mare is mine as well, she is my "heart horse" - I have owned her since she was born on July 2, 1992. I raised her, trained her, rode her, showed her, and have bred her - this is her 5th COLT. ALL went 1st Premium in their GOV inspections. She herself went 1st Premium in her mare inspection, and is in the GOV Main Mare Book and is eligible now for "Elite" status with the GOV because she has produced more than 4 Premium foals.
I do keep hoping she will have a filly (before too long, she is 18 years old), and yes if she does, I will be keeping her.

Hey you fancy horse people- I have nothing to add to this thread because I know nothing at all about anything you're talking about (not my usual arrogant style, is it? LOL). I'm wondering if you'd help me out by critiquing a colt of mine that I bought because my friend (a trainer) was going to train him in natural dressage. Well, that didn't work out b/c he left the country, and now I have this little stallion that I have no business owning by myself. I have never trained a horse in my life, and what I know about the venues he was bred for wouldn't fill a thimble.
The animal in question is a 2yr old Friesian stud colt. I have no idea how to begin to assess his movement or conformation. If I post some pics and video of him, would you guys tell me what you think?

best thing to do if you don't know what you are doing, is find a trainer who can help you train him, or who you can pay to do the training for you. If you are in the VA/NC area - contact Bruce Griffin who not only is an excellent trainer, he specializes in Freisians! www.griffinsporthorses.com

I guess what I'm wondering is more along the lines of what he'd be worth if I were to consider selling him, which is why I'm wondering how he looks to you "fancy horse people". LOL
If I keep him, I will just have him broke to ride....which everyone yells at me is a "waste" of a Friesian. My argument is that he has no idea what he is; he's just a horse if you ask him. ;-)
Sorry to hijack your thread, Molly. I'll start my own.

again, contact someone who knows Friesians - they are "hot stuff" right now and he may be worth quite a bit of money. send the video and pictures and inquiry to Bruce Griffin, he'll be able to help you.

A member named Chicki, who used to post here raises Friesians. Here's a link to her website:

Also, there was some info on Friesians in this thread: www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/bulletins_read/371394.html
Just posting in case you find something useful in either thread...
