You're evading the question, Steve, about whether or not you think the breeder I provided a link for is also a good breeder and worthy of consideration.  Her website is not much different than that provided byt the OP and she claims to also certify hips and she is a veterinarian as well!  Do you or do you not support her?

by pointyears on 11 May 2010 - 03:05

in response to my actions ruining the reputation of this breeder

I look at it this way - breeding is a business, when there is a bad business you can report it to the better business bureau but with breeding its really just word of mouth. I am not making claims about this persons personal life just the breeding practices. How many of you rip apart the makers of ALPO or Ol' Roy? how many criticized the purchase of Natura foods by P&G? Why is it okay to ruin the reputation of a large corporation but not a small breeder? Yes we all have our preferences in what we want in looks, drive, etc but can't we all agree when a breeder is not reputable? To me, there are no bad breeders/ passible breeders/ good breeders/ excellent breeders - there are only good and bad breeders. I am not making false accusations against this person. Her website is the proof I list, her dogs listed have zero working titles and she claims to produce real working dogs. It doesn't matter if she does hips and elbows that doesn't make a dog breedworthy. There are too many dogs dying in shelters to let a breeder of this caliber go by without care.

Yes there are many terrible BYBs out there and millers and commercial breeders but if we all sit by and do nothing then nothing changes. Mind my business? GSDs are a major part of my life I do not intend to sit by quietly while people ruin the breed.

"Well said Moons."

Well said?  Perhaps.  Correct?  Maybe a little but not so much.

While Moons is correct that there are many web sites like this one promoting sub-standard dogs and that it is unlikely that we can ever stop these people from breeding, he is absolutely incorrect in his suggestion that reputable breeders breeding quality dogs have no right to judge them and/or call them out for the shelter fodder they produce.

The link I provided to Rachel Clark's raebark site is a perfect example.  She is a puppy mill, plain and simple, and one who has been previously discussed on this very forum and featured in more than one local news stories about the issue.  I've been there and assure you that you would be offended by the conditions in which her "livestock" are kept.  Feel free to do your own research.

Reputable breeders who put forth the effort to title, breed survey and show their dogs have every right in the world to criticize those who do not.

Thats not what I said,
You may not like what they do but you don't have the right to stop them.
Risky business messing with people.

You change my life, I will change yours.
That kinda shit.

Criticize and judge all you like, it's allowed.
Just be prepared to receive the same from others.

It makes about as much sense as swatting flies in the barn yard.
There are better ways to spend ones time, than worrying about someone else.

What do you think is so sad?

Hmmmm.  Just a thought but how can anyone truly judge a person, and how they breed based on a website? You can have the best website in the world and be working out of a puppy mil.  And you can be a very caring conscientous breeder who just may not be internet savvy, or have bad marketing skills, or even just be a bit eccentric etc etc.

Isn't that why we are supposed to be responsible buyers and research the dogs we are interested in to the fullest extent and if at all possible see them in person before we commit to anything? Heck the main reason im even on this site is because i'm trying to do as much research as possible before buying my first purebred GSD. (that said any advice you wish to impart is welcomed )

You are so right moons... I said something smilar to what you said  in a previous thread and got the same response from a poster who used the almost the same words which were:

.pointyears states:   .that is a sad outlook on life

I agree with you Moons, we control our own destiny (time). We can not control someone else's(time). So concentrate on your own and don't worry about anyone else. Now I am not saying don't worry about the breed. Please lets don't  twist my words...
